I wholeheartedly support DeSantis on this. It is a reasonable reaction to flee from potential danger. In addition, expect the possibility a driver may be en route to a hospital or attempting to reach loved ones in a crisis.

Here's the thing about hitting pedestrians, hit one by accident you're in deep shit, that's careless or dangerous driving. Hit one on purpose, that's a whole new ball game. The second you stick an anti protestor sticker in your bumper or post online about how you'd run over a protestor that is evidence that you went out with intention of killing or injuring pedestrians. This knobhead is going to encourage idiots to kill people but when they go to court he'll be no where to be seen.

There is a difference between a pedestrian and blocking a road from usage.

Any protesters blocking a road should be arrested because it is no longer a peaceful, safe protest. No driver should intentionally hit them but if in fear or attacked by the protesters then the driver should proceed at a safe speed to exit the area

Yes, DeSantis has already given then the green light a couple of years ago when they were blocking the causeways. Nobody hed to be killed because the next day there were nobody blocking anything.

Actually pedestrians don't have the right of way no matter what. I used to work as a crossing guard for the airport police department. The officer in charge would often write up tickets for pedestrians Jay walking; and that included people in the crosswalk whenever we were stopping pedestrian traffic to let cars through. He even instructed us to continue to wave cars through whenever we got those entitled pedestrians.

Yes, and when cars have the Right of way pedestrians have to stop for them. Maybe you should take driver's ed; where they teach you the actual rules and not the ones you make up. Also the reason cops write tickets for pedestrians is because they have violated the rules. As for reading a book, I read the book they gave us in my driver's ed class cover to cover. Which is why when I took my driving test I got 100% on the written exam and it only took me 15 minutes to complete. Maybe instead of insulting people over assumptions about them you should stick to the argument at hand.

Omg... how's this so hard. Yes there are laws and signs telling both cars and peds what to do when. But because cars can kill, pedestrians will always have the right of way.

Because pedestrians don't always have the right of way. Yes a car can easily kill a pedestrian; that is why drivers should be cautious around them. But that doesn't give pedestrians automatic right of way whenever they step foot into the street. If you are at an intersection and the crosswalk has lights, currently saying don't walk as the cross traffic has a green light. That means the cars have the right of way; and if you step out into the crosswalk at that time and get hit by a car it is your fault and the driver of said car will not be held liable unless they flee the scene.
