In 2023, approximately 9,700 Americans were treated in emergency rooms for fireworks-related injuries during the period around the Fourth of July, according to the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

I really had no idea until I looked it up.

One year, in my early 20s, I had the bright idea of making my own sky rockets. I taped wooden dowel to model rocket engines (the big ones, l D12--0s).
I hollowed out the tops of the engines so that, instead of the plug blowing out, it would shoot fire.
I would tape two engines side by side. Then I would tape two more to a piece of drinking straw and slip the straw over the down and up under the two engines that were attached to it. The engines beneath acted as a first stage, ignited the engines on the dowel, and slipped off when those ignited.
To the top pair of engines, I would tape all kinds of things - spinning ground flowers, piccolo Pete's (with the cardboard removed they look like firecrachers), M-80s, firecrackers, whatever. And I would stuff the fuses into the top of the engines.
Sometimes I would tape pieces of drinking straws around the engines and stick 3 bottle rockets in each.
So the first stage would carry the top heavy rocket up, then the second stage would carry it higher. When it got to the top, it would ignite the ordinance, which would detach and rain screaming, fiery hell.
I did that for two or three years.
My friends got the idea and built their own, as well.
We would go to places like large parking lots on the 4th where people were congregated to light fireworks.
When ours went up, sometimes they kind of spiraled and went sideways because they were so top heavy.
It was spectacular.
Thank goodness no one ever got hurt and nothing ever caught on fire.
Yeah, we were young and crazy and stupid.

One year, I was setting off regular fireworks in the street in front of our house for my niece. I also had a few packs of firecrackers and a couple of M-80s.
I lit one M-80 and let the fuse burn down a bit before throwing it. When I threw it, it went off just inches from my hand. I wasn't inured but my fingers were numb for a while. I played it cool and didn't acknowledge it. I felt stupid. And I learned to be more cautious.

Aside from that, the only time I got injured was when the city allowed people to set off fireworks on the beach when I was a kid. That was when sparklers had wire cores instead of wood. Those wires would get red hot. I stepped on hot wires in the sand with bare feet a couple of times. But the burns weren't bad.

those is the bigger ones states side like no sparks just a deep powerful explosion it looks like what artillery anti aircraft guns do blow up and it’s a dark cloud. the us obviously is the best but maybe in Texas people get the powerful fireworks but still in Mexico u feel the explosion in your stomachs. Like when the city dose the works shows u feel some of the power of ur close enough my point Is I've yet to be shocked and awed also in Mexico u have this sons of dogs there names busca pies feet finder I guess y. Basically a giant thick stick looks like a straw with the little green line some theeea differnt size but u toss one into a crowed something that’s playful unless it sticks into a persons hair burns there face off or mouth something that would probably be counted and charged as mayhem attempt murder and possible terrorist charges on the us in Mexico any goon kid lights o e of these busa pies and in makes the loudest screeching sound screening like a rocket fish out of water and if ur unlucky it locks onto your person and it will chase u and its roman candle size thing flying at u fast then there’s the bull some drunk phsycjo runs around with a wooden pole of rockets on his head runs around the plaza maiming killing people chicks face got blown off oops fiestas you know Mexico e live murder mayhem and cold beer boy I tell u . Sounds like Halloween back home. You know they actually had to bring in special licences and regulate what types of fireworks could be sold in the uk because in the uk on the run up to Halloween/guy fawkes it was just a free for all, like a mini terror campaign of teens drinking Buckfast and letting off fireworks everywhere at all hours. (Buckfast is a cheap tonic fortified wine that's 30% & associated with lout behaviour &raging alcoholics).

I don't know but I'm pretty sure a bunch of my neighbors were lighting off M80s in front of my house right after we announced Trump bombed Iran which actually scared the crap out of me because lights were flashing in front of my house.

I forgot how loud they are. It's illegal in NY and the cops don't enforce it and I can't blame them. Every 4th of July it's completely out of hand. I personally know 3 people that have gone to the hospital over fireworks.

if we’re talking in the whole United States, I would say the ones where fireworks are illegal will have the most casualties since there’s plenty of states where fireworks are legal yet they probably have less injuries since the fireworks are readily available all year and they can do whatever they want with them but have more respect and safety for them since it’s been legal all along for those states so I would say at least 10,000 people for the whole county country
