Capitalism/freedom. Since no other society has the level of personal freedom found in the US and few utilize free market capitalism. The US has been able to out pace other nations in technological advancement.

I don’t think the US was considered a “superpower” prior to its response to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Its economic resources and military might, combined with the resolve to utilize them established the US as a world power. This compelled other nations to ally with us; creating a “superpower”.

The short answer is WW2 was a massive boost to the American economy because of all the production jobs and demand it created and when we joined in and became the deciding factor that tipped the scales for the allies, we also banked a shit ton of good will with all European nations and positions of power in NATO. All of this comes with all kinds of wonderful benefits and trade deals etc. That's what people don't realize, being the world police is very lucrative.

There are many reasons. We have an ocean on each side which made it hard to conquer. We have plenty of natural resources. The nation was founded on freedom and a legal system that favored the individual. This created a mindset that encouraged innovation and individualism. Many new inventions came from America and Americans had a strict work ethic.

We were blessed with great leaders that were made from that same system of free enterprise and individuality.
