Probably at least in part due to socio-structural issues such as race based inequality in access to education (including sexual education) and healthcare. Biology also plays a part, with women generally being more susceptible to infections of this nature (due to like, the types of tissue involved and what not).

Also, in the case of infections like this, there's literally no cure, but there aren't necessarily symptoms either, so once it enters a community it can be hard to remove because lots of people around you have it, but they likely have no idea, so you couldn't make informed decisions even if you wanted to. That's where the health care issue comes back into play. If you regularly engage in preventative healthcare, you can be more informed and stay safer. But that's expensive if you don't have good insurance.

The real question is why does this need to be a news article? The information may be useful to health care providers but what purposes does it serve to highlight it in a news article? The only reason is to give blacks a bad public image and encourage discrimination.

You can’t magically get rid of an STD after getting it so, “accepted by society” is more like having compassion. Same with those that are handicapped, mentally disabled, or those who are born Intersex / Homosexual / Bisexual / Pansexual instead of being born Heterosexual.

Makes sense it would spread amongst African Americans since they have less resources, health education to be able to prevent it. Humans are horny, though when you lack resources and education that would help you navigate this cruel world we live in, it makes it difficult to stop the spread of disease let alone STDs.
We should provide more education and resources also programs to fix this crisis now.

Something tells me if that same fourteen year old kid was being charged with a crime as an adult, those same people suggesting she’s adult enough to have sex and contract STDs would be outraged.
