Why do women think that hosting rallies about violence against women is actually going to change anything?

Do they honestly believe that the men being violent are suddenly going to see the light and change their behavior just because a few women are out there whining about it? In fact it would probably just annoy them even more

It might make some guys who would otherwise be rapists restrain themselves. Some guys think oh it is ok to hold a woman down if she struggles and says no, after all they are just playing hard to get right? But when they see women calling out such behavior it might occur to them that it is wrong. I admit when I was in my teen years I laughed at a joke where a man had sex with his a woman he thought was his wife when she was asleep only to discover it was his mom. That is of course wrong in so many ways. Than later I learned that it is not ok for a man to have sex with a sleeping woman and that husbands can be guilty of raping their wives. I am glad I learned these things before I lost my virginity.

There's something to be said for prevention, and if raising awareness and making sure people understand how serious and awful that sort of violence is has that effect, it's definitely worth it.

The fight for civil rights took hundreds of years and the fight for gender equality took hundreds of years. I guess they were just whining as well.
