Why do people believe that educating men about violence against women will stop violence against women?

99.9 percent of men already know that violence is wrong. The issue is getting them to care. Sitting there complaining about violence against women is only going to provoke the wrong men even more. It’s like smoking or drugs, should there be more education about how bad they are for you? Everyone already knows the risks. The real challenge is getting people to care enough that they choose not to smoke or take drugs.

You are right that men know that the violence is wrong, although there is real importance to the education.

A lot of men discredit and silence women who’ve gone through abuse, mainly from a place of ignorance. My health class taught me about date rape, what constitutes as consent, and the different types of sexual assault out there, also how these things work.

It wasn’t teaching the men to stop being criminals exploiting women, that wasn’t the goal. The goal was to educate girls and boys about these sensitive topics and how to navigate them through life. So that when a misguided person tries to tell someone misinformation or tries to misdirect you, you know the facts and won’t be pursued to think differently.

There was even a piece on when guys tend to be innocent and when guys are the victims of sexual abuse. Which makes women and men more accepting, less reactive, and stick to the facts of individual cases and having the capacity for compassion, understanding, empathy when it happens to opposite gender.

Obviously, not all that went on in health class. Other things from pregnancy to cancers to mental disorders and more. I only wished more students got the education I did, because maybe there wouldn’t be so much hostility to victims trying to file a police report, trying to voice their story, and it would make people feel compassion so they wouldn’t fake allegations that hurt the community struggling.

This won’t stop violence on women, but it will help in enabling their voices to speak against it and enable allies to stand up for them when others turn them away or try to discredit their abuse. And if a woman doesn’t think it was violence that constitutes rape charges, she can accurately know and get the information to stand against the perpetrator hopefully ending the cycle by showing actions have consequences.
My class even told women and men what to do if they got raped or suspect rape took place so, I don't know that seems helpful even if it didn’t prevent the violence. It at least starts accountability and moving on with your life after being violated and abused.

There is a link between fatherlessness and aggression. If healthy masculinity is taught and good male role models are provided, I think it could make a difference for some. But once they reach a certain age, it is hard to educate unless they are willing to make the change themselves. There are a lot of men escaping the manosphere and developing healthier attitudes towards women.

The real problem is parenting and the creation of damaged personalities that never learn how to behave. Yeah some guys know it's wrong and still do it. They can't control their bad impulses. They think their behavior is normal. They had no role model or a bad role model. They watched daddy beat mommy and they hang out in Red Pill chat rooms. It's really hard to fix that when they don't want to be fixed at 20-75 years old.

I don't think anyone believes it will 100% though humans really can be that dumb.
It's more the fact it does solve and prevent some hence why we do it.
Do people smoke anyway? Of course but go look at some numbers you'll see smoking has gone down. And that's the point of education on it, it's not full proof and yep it can even lead to someone doing it as form of rebel to that education but it does reduce other cases.

What's weird to me is women that claim to want to stop violence by men against women, choose to be more confrontational, annoying, and provocative ensuring that they will get beat up more often. When you pick fights with violent people that are stronger than you, they usually pound on you. You avoid fights by chilling the fuck out and taking it easy.

If someone is abusive, leave them alone. That doesn't mean stay in a relationship with them and be silent. That means get your shit and leave them alone. Go somewhere else and don't talk to them anymore. It's simple get off your ass and go. Some wife beater can't beat up a wife he doesn't have. People generally aren't beating on people without reason, so fix your shit and learn to work with people better so that you don't start drama with someone new. If you are abrasive and you are smaller than the person you are pissing off, they may very well beat your ass. That's a fact of life. Guys tend to learn this at an early age. Most men don't go out of their way to start shit with men that are much larger than them. They chill the fuck out and are friendly with one another because arrogant little weaklings learn early in life that you'll get punched in the face if you keep acting like that around people that can pick you up and slam you on your spine.
