The military of the USA is one policy tool of the civilian government like the State Department or the the Treasury Department or the Federal Reserve Bank or Foreign Aid. The civilian government is in turn supposedly the servant of the people who elected individuals to represent them.

But the government hasn't answered to the people for a long time. It has been thoroughly corrupted by dark money flowing in from corporations and billionaires. Our elected representatives have all been bought of sit cowering in a corner in fear of being "primaried" in the next election if they don't do as their masters demand.

All of the legislation is passed to support the rich, not the people. The military is being used to further the goals of defense contractors and oil corporations using the dead bodies of the children of our poor and middle class. The Federal Reserve Bank is being pressured to become a political pawn to win elections.

Wake up morons! Look around. Your vote hasn't mattered for decades.

I was under the impression kt was the sovereign which in my case was the monarch and state above the government and people. I think the application of military force by the government needs to have a strong support from the people else military leaders should be able to refuse instructions from political leaders if they go against the international laws of armed conflict. Being deployed against citizens behaving in a non threatening way would be a situation where commanders should refuse.

it could be just a paycheck at the end of the day for them? going against their country is treason, right? the soldiers might be buying their time until their service is done and not re-enlisting? i haven't heard any sentiments from any of our military at all. have you?

A lot of military in US are thete as a job but my experience has been 100% voluntary, so it was chosen for the service not the salary. There's no added strings of payment for college, citizenship benefits that US offers as part of the 'package'. I could tell the guys and girls I worked with had the Law of armed conflict drilled in to them and their responsibility was to refuse to follow orders that were considered illegal BY THEM.
QUESTIONS to command were expected and the sovereign (state or constitution) was the purpose of the army in the first place.

It is designed to defend our sovereign nation and uphold the constitution. However, we have a well armed militia that is supposed to protect us from the government if need be.
