Why is magic mushroom therapy legal in Oregon but illegal here in California?

Why should the legality of mushrooms depend on where you live in the US? I’m a proud American, and I think mushrooms could help out veterans in Los Angeles, it could help out the former gang members who turned their lives around but suffer from PTSD.

I don't think we have enough safety and efficacy data on mushrooms to feel comfortable about prescribing them just yet. Mushrooms are psychomimetics and as such may be problematic in people vulnerable to psychosis. LSD and Ketamine already have that problem.
