Largely the break down of soceity.

1. People feel entitled when dealingbwith the police, that there are no consequences for bad behaviour or abuse towards police.

2. Police being very jittery due to large amounts of crime they deal with and the high number of police fatalities. This causes them to draw and often shoot unarmed civilians by mistake.

3. The media.

4. All sorts of protest groups like the BLM and antifa are anti police and want to defund police until of course they need them.

5. Portrayal of police in the media mean the police don't attract the high quality recruits they need.

6. Police officers these days almost need to go to law school to be effective.

7. The legal system, politicians and general public expect arrests to be made with no force regardless of the suspect. Look what happened in England recently when two Pakistanis were being arrested by a two female officers and a man. They decided to fist fight, the two female officers got badly banged up and the male officer is facing charges for excessive force because he kicked one on the ground after taking a beating.

You take a 30 second viral tic toc video and you know everything about this case.
First of all. You don’t do what a cop says you can and probably will get arrested. These videos where you tell the cop no I don’t want to do what you say and the cop replies “ok then have a nice day” and lets you go are not real. The punch? I’m not sure if this guy deserved it or not. There is a whole bunch more to the story than what tic toc showed you.

This is the standard case of FAFO. They shouldn’t have to break the glass either if the asshole would have got out of the car like he was asked to. You have no idea what took place minutes before. You have no idea if he punched the cop before locking himself in the car. You know nothing but the 30 seconds that driver wanted you to see. Since your life is nothing but 30 second video clips you think you can make a clear and accurate judgment with only a fraction of the information. You can’t.

As for this cop talk show how long has he been retired? Policing has changed a lot on the past 10 years. Bad cops are not tolerated now, the training is so much more… there is ICAT/ABLE training (look it up), use of force training has totally changed. Is there bad cops? Sure just like there are bad doctors, bad lawyers or bad anything else. When these things happen there will be an investigation and if the cop is wrong he will be disciplined or fired.
I think everyone needs to understand that these tic toc videos that tell you that you don’t have to comply with the police is total BS. You do have to comply and if you do your interaction will be so much smoother.

The podcaster you listen to, I’m not sure where he was a cop… there are a lot of bad places to be a cop. Look at my photo really carefully…. I am a cop. I know first hand about policing.
Was talking last night to a Sgt. About a new cop that just quit. He was a cop in a very bad city. 4+ gang shooting every day. He joined out PD and couldn’t stand it because it was too quiet. He went back to the city because he needed that excitement. There were a few times a week he was dispatched to a “shots fired” call.
Cops like this are putting themselves on the line everyday… we all do. I’ve had people pointing guns at me, threaten me with knives.
Getting back to the video… I don’t know what this guy did that made the cops demand he get out but I did see in the cops body cam that the cop had his door open and the guy grabbed his door and slammed it. Breaking his window was necessary. The punch…. Maybe not BUT we don’t know from the short video released by the driver.

Your picture shows your face. That’s it. Yes I understand that driver was less than cooperative and force was needed. He can’t just sit there all day. Breaking window is one thing, it’s that punch that’s the outcry.

Yes whenever I get stopped, I roll window down, give them license and vehicle info etc. clearly this guy didn’t. I’m not saying he’s innocent. But still that punch was clearly wrong.

I agree the punch didn’t look necessary but again you and I don’t know the full story. Did you see the body cam footage? It shows that they had the door open and asked him to get out and he slammed the door closed.

Stop shrieking. Ever heard of investigations? That's what has to be done to get ducks in a row to prosecute when a prosecution is in order so a case doesn't get thrown out. An investigation is supposed to determine what happened. You don't investigate solely via a short video of part of an encounter.

We do not know the rest of the story. What was the traffic stop for? Did the guy mouth off to the cop? Maybe the cop was trying to get his attention. ?
