3.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes, definitely.
No joke, when I was no more than 5 years old, I can remember my mother telling my younger brother and me, "If you kids get thrown in jail you can expect to stay there because I won't be bailing you out. Because if you are in jail it means that you deserve to be. When a police officer tells you to do something you say, 'Yes, sir" and you do it!"
To be sure, beyond wondering how I would end up as the first second grader incarcerated on Alcatraz, speaking at just a personal level, I have no sympathy for this notion that someone is a delicate little snowflake who deserves to have his feelings given a higher regard than the rule of law. It is utterly alien to everything I was raised with.
The police have a risky job, their lives are on the line at every stop, and they have no way of knowing who you are or what you are doing. They deserve deference and if they go outside the bounds, you have redress for that in a court of law.
The current popular attitude toward law enforcement is an outgrowth of a sniveling, self-absorbed and self-pitying culture that too easily takes for granted the difficult task of maintaining a stable social order. "The policeman was mean to me!" Good grief.
Do the police get unfairly treated? Absolutely. It is the sign of a self-satisfied and sanctimonious age that too easily takes for granted its safety and those who assure us.
In 1977, after nearly two decades of a culture that had taken to calling the police, "pigs" and that thought the criminal was a victim of society rather than a victimizer, Gallup took a poll. It showed that 72% of all women - and 92% of African-American women - of all classes and incomes and all the rest, did not feel safe walking in their neighborhoods at night.
Americans, as was said of the French kings, "Forget nothing and learn nothing." Suffice to say, we are are repeating history.

Cops should be trusted.. Problem is people don't Understand how our System operates.
If one cop or a whole station goes Bad, You can report it to Higher department. This cleaning and filtering of Cops required you Giving Feedback to Right authorities. Give feedback..
Never be Scared of Cops, They are your servent.
All you need is 5 people - 2 Good lawyers, 1 Good Political leaders, 2 Good Executive officer's to sign the application. And as many as public signatures. If 1000 signature how many of them will they put in Jail, Rattle their Cages.
Add a time frame for them to Respond to you, and take action and notify you. Add a Warning if you aren't notified and conditions do not change within 15 days. You will apply for a Public hearing in State or National court.
Usually They will change the Officer Governing the Police station or the region..
But situation doesn't ends here.. Again Your participation is required to Visit that new Officer and get him on your Side, Before other corrupt official or politicians come meet him and corner him into becoming corrupt and evil..
Weak men create Hard Times.. if men in west are dressing like women, being a faggy, Hard Times like this will be seen.
System was Created for you, Become a Mob and Get control of your system..

+1 yI have dealt with police quite a bit growing up because my parents lifestyle. Some were very nice people, kind and tried to be understanding. Some were power hungry assholes. I watched a guy throw my mom around a bit and really it was just because she was talking loud and he was yelling at me to get the fuck back when I was only 8, its like settle down buddy, like I could attack him or something lol. I usually do not trust them to deal with my life, but I am a security guard so I do have to deal with them on a pretty regular basis.

+1 yDepends on the individual. Also throw in how long they have served, as peer pressure is greatest when they haven't proven themselves yet. All of this will show in the first couple lines of interactions. I grew up around a lot of law enforcement officers. Friends parents, neighbors and others. I can tell who is helpful right off. I trusted some, but sadly not most.
They are human and just want to get through their day like the rest of us do.

Just the city name would draw dishonest cops. 😧
12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. You are eight times more likely to be killed by a US cop, than a terrorist, kiddo.
The number is higher if you are Black or Native American.
So it's a statistical fact that 80% of police officers are giving that other 20% a bad name.

+1 yAbsolutely not. Being a cop changes people, I've seen it among my friends. It's very much unlike firemen which is more of a communal brotherhood whereas police officers work alone or with a partner and the type of person who enters a profession that has a monopoly on violence is suspect in my mind. Many have outrageous egos and a sense of entitlement as well as a bit of depravity. More importantly, everyone should be aware of their rights when interacting with the police. SAY NOTHING! Always ask if their body cams are on and at every instance restate that you do not give consent to "X". You should also film them yourself with your phone, it is entirely legal and there is nothing they can do about it.

Many U. S. cops have blue-collar backgrounds and dull-normal ( 104 IQ on average) intelligence, and a good many are white ethnics who are politically conservative, which can make for a toxic stew of reasons for them to be racist brutes.
- +1 y
@handsomelad70 ABSOLUTELY! Plus they only get 6-8 weeks training on the law and rights but months of combat training. Most are positively ignorant of the law and what other profession has the ability to investigate itself of wrongdoing? It's grotesque and Orwellian.
5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No. The fact that they have the power to wreck your life without thinking twice about it makes them dangerous. They give me the willies.
Some are worthless. Some are strutting ass holes with god complexes. But I've also had interactions with some cops who were really good guys.41 Reply- +1 y
The strutting a**holes are also likely ugly in addition to dumb and bigoted.

+1 yYes and no, since it depends. My location, the context of the situation, type of cop, and things like that.
For example, if a county is known to have harsh cops, I will be less honest and trusting of them. However, even in said county, I would trust them to try to save my life if I were in danger. Also, it depends on the energy they are giving and what types of questions being asked.20 Reply 3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Even though they've arrested me twice yep I do. Most are friendly and normal. Unless your crime or suspected crime is really bad they will normally just talk to you and treat you like anyone else.
Of course if your not acting up either.
Now do I trust the law process and how courts can decide your guilty based on very fragile to no evidence of course not.20 ReplyYes and no. I feel shutty saying no as my boyfriend is a cop... yeah. And he takes his job very seriously. But the cops I've met (him excluded) were awful. They literally saw my dad threatening to kill me over dating my boyfriend (when we were younger and got caught). They don't do anything when you call them. Literally had the berate me before for calling then when my dad was trying to hit me and blamed me for it. So honestly for the most part I don't trust them

30 Reply 1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

This is the local police.
What do you think? Would YOU trust this?12 Reply- +1 y
I live in Cape Town, South Africa.
Less than a mile from my home is an area the cops aren't prepared to go into because of gang activity. When shooting starts they usually don't turn up. If they do then the only thing they do is prevent anyone going in or out.
I'm currently in the process of getting a firearms license so I can be certain at least one person with a gun is on my family's side and prepared to step up - and I'm missing my right leg and half of my left foot.
"Zoom in"? I've got a friend who works in a worse area than the one up the road - also an amputee. He's a cop. Probably the only one in the city I'd trust.
They aren't bad people. The problem is they aren't paid even close to enough to do any more than they do. The good ones are too few to do anything significant and the bad ones are in the gangs' pockets. The fat and the stupid are what's left.
+1 yIn my profession I'm communicating with police a good bit. I've met some who are just great people. I've me some that are super arrogant but stupid. I've met some that just flat out are deceptive and corrupt. For the most part I don't trust them. It's common that a couple can ruin the trust in the mass.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yAt the moment - NO - In the UK ALL of the police forces are tiptoeing around muslims and their communities, and the LGBTQ+ mob, allowing them to get away with actions that would have the indigenous people of the UK arrested in court and jailed at lightning speed.

"Indigenous U. K. people?" What First Nation folk dwell in Britain?
Opinion Owner+1 y@handsomelad70 The ones that have been there after the Pleistocene, and all of the invasions from Europe.
- +1 y
But they're white, not red.
Opinion Owner+1 y@handsomelad70 Makes no difference they are still the Indigenous people of the UK in the same way that 'native' Americans are the Indigenous people of the US.
- +1 y
Unlike the Americas' First Peoples, original Brits weren't slaughtered, their land and languages weren't stolen and they weren't confined to reservations, among other atrocities visited upon Indigenous North Americans.
Opinion Owner+1 y@handsomelad70 Skin colour has nothing to do with it, if that is what you think is the main characteristic of indigenous people then you have a serious problem.
Opinion Owner+1 y@handsomelad70 the indigenous people of the UK were slaughtered by Romans, Vikings, Angles, their land was stolen by the Normans who also tried to suppress their language, they were confined and had the same atrocities visited on them as Indigenous North Americans, but it was so far in the past that unless you are a serious student of history or you live here you'll never know about it, in much the same way that people do not realise that there were people taken into slavery from the UK by Barbary Pirates during the 17th century but still active until the 19th century,
