How do you feel about Trump's deals with EU and Japan?

President Donald Trump is hiking global tariffs to levels the world did not see in a century — without triggering a major trade war.

Its sort of what I expected honestly. First of all, they are not actual trade deals. How could they be? Those takes actual talent and years if not decades to construct. Its not even about fighting to get the other side to back down, it just takes a very long time to figure out what your own country wants from the deal and what you are willing to give up to get that.

It was also very clear that Trump puts up impressive claims and numbers to start with and then everything he holds up melts away like ice cream in the summer if you put it under scrutiny for any length of time. What looked like an impressive deal for USA fairly quickly turned into a meh deal and now a terrible deal.

Not that its a good deal for Japan or the EU either, its just a bad deal for everyone to be honest.

Trump is kicking ass. Most people are too stupid to understand the whole world uses tariffs. Most people are too stupid to even understand how it works. And most people never cared about tariffs until Trump imposed them on others. So they have no clue what a tariff is, but they have been told by their masters to hate tariffs. And they obeyed.

Trump knows how to make deals or pressures others to reflect on the problems by using his negotiation strategies to readjust fair trade for the best for the US.
of course others won’t like him…

@midnightmoon05 I spent a lot of time in different countries and a common complaint is that the US does not allow fair trade. WE got rid of a lot of manufacturing because people wanted lower process on commodities more than they wanted full employment. It's a decision we made so I don't think anyone can complain.

Trump has bankrupted 4 companies so I wouldn't count on his business acumen

@OlderAndWiser I like Trump, but I do confess, he can be a little bit too much with his arrogance when talking about what he has done. He seems to make good on promises, though, but a little bit too much, like some super athletes

I cna't say I understand the final outcome, need some kind of fancy calculator to determine whom has the advantage, how they will manuever around them and what that means.

It has nothing to do with feelings... but I feel like it's like economic spaghetti.

We don't know the real impacts yet, especially given Trump's erratic TACO behavior. The EU is a large exporter, so for them it's a stumbling block for trade and for American buyers an unnecessary increase of prices.
