Hey everyone, I'm curious if it was put up to a vote to fully legalize cannabis to be on the same level of alcohol or cigarettes.. how would you vote on this legalization attempt?
9 moI would vote to legalize ALL drugs not just cannabis, just as long the problems that come with consuming drugs are on the consumer not on the tax payer. Do you understand?
You can consume whatever you want and how much you want. Don't sell it to third parties, and don't share it, and you will not spend a day in jail. If then you can't find a job because you become an addict, its your problem. If you overdoes you might get treated in hospital maybe the first time, but then you will receive the bill. And its not going to be cheap. Guaranteed that you will receive the bill. And before you pay your debt to the hospital you will not be allowed to buy any fixed assets like a car, a house, or even a laptop. Nothing.
Otherwise I am in favor of people doing whatever they like with their lives.
Do you get the idea?

@Zylos But you are arguing about smokeable drugs which means mainly cannabis or cannabis derived drugs. That is only a small portion of the whole range of drugs. And then again we can add a little bit more to the law by saying that you can only smoke in private. Or open spaces where there are no people in a circle of radius 100 m. In the forest practically. Very simple. Do you still see a problem like this as well? Or do you agree?
- 9 mo
In private means in apartments too, so that doesn't work. Others will be affected.
Smoke probably travels further than 100 m. It's also about what atmosphere you want to breathe. We are already polluting the air way too much, why add to it just so some people can get high? Especially since they could just consume edibles or maybe vape. - 9 mo
@Zylos If smoke can seep into the apartments above or below you and there is nothing you can do about it then they can simply ban smoking in apartments as well. Simple. However as I told you the other drugs do not pose such a problem. From a hundred meters away in open air such as a forest smoke is negligible. Undetectable except for with the most sensitive machine on Earth. It will not pose any danger for sure. Ask a scientist if you still have doubts.
But I think you get the whole idea I am trying to promote. As long as you consume drugs yourself (without affecting others with smoke ofcourse in the case of marijuana for instance) you can have as much as you want. Just know that the problems are on you then not on the tax payer. - 9 mo
That libertarian ideology is never really realistic.
If your brother or your girlfriend starts consuming drugs "just for them", that will almost certainly end up having shitty consequences for you, e. g. they get into debt or forget to go to work or become depressed or become aggressive or whatever. - 9 mo
@Zylos Why are you talking about libertarian ideology now? Why is it not realistic? You mean you are against people being free, or what? As you wish. That will be your opinion. I on the other hand think that individual freedom is very very important. A cardinal right. And I am only talking on this one issue of drug consumption. I am not promoting anarchy at all just to be clear. And another thing, I am talking about the criminal aspect of the matter. The relationship between the state and its subjects. When I say it should not affect others I mean that it should not negatively affect the or put at risk other members of the public.
What can I say, leave your girlfriend if she starts taking drugs. lol Or if your brother is distressing you cut him out of your life, or bring a civil case against him. A civil case if you want. But in my opinion people should have the right to consume drugs as I explained above I am not going through it again.

9 moSo the State of Maryland legalized Canabis. They are having problems with public usage of cannabis. You smell it driving around and people smoke in public sometimes. That is against the referendum that was passed.
I voted no on that because there was going to be no real punishment for breaking the law.
A full and complete ban on all over illegal drugs, aggressive tactics.
I want quick death sentences for all other drug users after a two year period of treatment is offered.
Drug dealers must die soon.
I would vote to legalize Cannabis if alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis were going to be the only drugs available.

9 moIt’s fully legal where I live but you can clearly see how it lowers people’s intelligence. People who smoke it regularly seem much slower mentally, and lazier, than people who don’t.
I’m all for freedom and everything but it seems like it’s having a negative impact on people’s minds, where I live.00 Reply
If cigarettes and alcohol are legal then marijuana should be. Both of them are a LOT worse than pot.

9 moYeah I would. People are already gonna do it ANYWAY. So better make it legal already than having to get it from really shady potentially dangerous/deadly people.
Plus, weed is actually A LOT more mundane compared to A LOT of other drugs. Definitely not anywhere near as bad as drugs like cocaine, meth, or heroin. And arguably alcohol is even worse (and/or more addicting) than weed yet extremely normalized.

9 moI voted for keeping it illegal.
Once the state I live in made it legal people were smoking it in public, in parks even though it wasn’t legal to do those things. This IS like smoking. If a smoker wants to smoke that fine but I don’t want second hand smoke but yet me and my child are subjected to it because if you give people an inch they take a foot.
Plus you’re not supposed to smoke and drive… people do….00 Reply From what I understand, the risk of psychosis is real for vulnerable people.
So yeah, I would never want a situation where it was legal to subject others to second-hand smoke.
But edibles, maybe vapes, with warnings and age restrictions? Maybe.
A lot of people at my school had to re-take entire school years because they smoked too much weed.
Proponents rarely if ever address the downsides of this drug.
00 Reply2.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. My view is the gov't should take over the drug industry. It would reduce taxes but more importantly, gov't is really good at destroying industries it's dead hand touches.
It's the only way the drug problem will be solved. Giving free drugs to the highly addicted will allow them to have a nice but very short life cause it does cause harm other than by overdose.
Short lives for druggies will reduce their impact on society.02 Reply- 9 mo

9 moAbsolutely!! If booze and cigarettes kill you, and others, because you use them, why shouldn't grass be legal since, it does neither and is actually quite helpful? THAT'S why!! We're not allowed to have things that are GOOD FOR US!! If everyone's healthy, Drs. can't get rich!!

9 moI'm 100% fine with legalizing it and anything else you want to put in your body. If you want to drink rat poison that's your choice.
If you're stupid enough to smoke marijuana now that we know that it destroys your body not to mention your brain it's your right to do it. No one should be able to tell you you cannot.

Anonymous(36-45)9 moi live in a place where its already legal and can tell you the benefits of legalization are relatively thin and only really benefitted the people who smoked the stuff or sold it.
i've never really been in one of the legal pot shops ever that we have here but find the packaging all the time lying around places.
a lot of tax revenue was promised but years later unclear how much its even bringing in and illegal market still exists on the side00 Reply- 5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
9 moYes, and we Canucks legalized it in Oct.2018 with few problems save scumbags adulterating street weed with Fentanyl, which killed my cousin Corey Rolls, Apr.4,2002 at age fifty and Mark Logsdon, youngest brother of my bestie Jamie Logsdon, Dec.28,2022 at age sixty.
00 Reply 5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Absolutely. The most dangerous thing about cannabis are the criminal penalties that destroy innocent lives. Aside from that, it is far less dangerous than alcohol and actually has health benefits.

9 moObviously it should be legal everywhere , every sane person knows that lol. The people who actually think weed is harmful are fucking hilarious. They actually have the audacity to call weed smokers “stupid.” Oh the irony is something you can reach out and feel.

9 moLegal, but illegal to allow the smoke out in public. I can't stand the smell of smoke, why should I be forced to smell someone elses stench. they should be required to contain it.
00 Reply 1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Oh God no ! It would be the worst thing they could , especially in the wonderful US of A where many fools consider the use of anti represents to be somehow " all good " .

9 moI'd keep it illegal because when it's legal people just smoke it in public all the time and get the smell everywhere and it's obnoxious. It's more fun when it's illegal anyway.
9 moNo I wouldn't. I happen to have sense. Visit Vancouver or other places where it's legal, see the absolute hell on those delapitated streets brimming with addicts and half-dead homeless people and then tell me you'd legalize it.

11 Reply11.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. We already have legal cannabis here in California where I live. It hasn't really caused any problems. I don't use it, but I don't much care if others do except for the fact that I can't stand the smell of the smoke.

9 moI actually want to legalize it here in the Philippines but they need to be educated about it first which government will least likely do. They blame on something, ban it, refuse to teach people how to use it properly.
01 Reply- 9 mo
It's actually medicinal. While it is addictive, doctor's precision should be required first to buy them but the problem here is smugglers. They can illegally sell them.
