While a U. S. president like Trump can influence the situation through military aid, diplomacy, or pressure on Putin, ultimately, any lasting peace deal must be agreed upon by Ukraine itself. Zelensky has repeatedly stated he is open to diplomacy, but not at the cost of surrendering Ukrainian land or people. His goal is a just and lasting peace, not a rushed cease-fire that only rewards further aggression.

So, will he help end the war? Yes. He is fighting for an end to the war on terms that ensure Ukraine's survival as an independent nation. The real question is whether the world will continue to support his efforts until that goal is achieved.

I can understand why Zelenskyy doesn’t want to give up land that Biden’s and Putin’s little incursion took. Unless he can start attacking Russian cities like Putin is doing to Ukraine. The death toll will be astronomical and the war will drag on.

It wouldn't be hard to end it. However, Putin wants Ukraine, but Zelenskyy and most people of Western Ukraine don't want him to have it. The easiest way is to hold a vote in different parts of Ukraine to determine whether or not they want to be Russia or Ukraine.

I know they do, that's why they were able to annex Crimea with no problem. Those areas speak Russian and see more similarities with Russia thsn the rest of Ukraine. Then you go west, and those people have no interest in joining Russia.

Zelensky doesn’t have much incentive to end the war at this point (too much financial benefit), and expecting him to agree to permanently give up any land that Ukraine still controls is ridiculous.
