Why is it that so many women think its impossible to be a stay at home mom unless you are wealthy?

I don't think it's impossible at all, and it's my dream to be a stay at home Mom. You just need to know how to budget, should know how to cook and teach your children, take care of the home, and don't take advantage of that opportunity while your husband's out working hard as well.

Most people don't know how to live within their means. A lot of women also know that their husband would immediately shoot down the idea of them being a stay at home wife for that same reasoning, so as a coping mechanism those women will agree.

Not true at all. My younger brother and his wife have 2 kids. He's a med student and she stays at home with the kids full time. They live very frugally, but they are happy, and their kids truly have a real mother. They are so much better off for it.

Because so many people live paycheck to paycheck even with two or more salaries. And, to be fair, a lot of things have gotten more expensive in the past five years.

If a family is disciplined, it can be done in a lot of cases.

Agreed, and I think anyone who has their shit together can do it if they make it their priority. The problem today is that people's perception of what they "need" has been bastardized.

@backdoorman: I agree 100%. I’m always amazed in particular, at how much money is wasted on Door Dash of food wasted/not eaten. A lot of money could be saved there.

Because they spend more than you make if she stays at home.
that’s why my friend who spent all her monthly salary went to her husband for more money, he said no to her.

her hair appointment is $400. dollars. The wooden doll house for their daughter is $1,000. Her car is $60k that you bought her. Her bag is $10K. The food she orders from a specialty chef is $2K a month because she can’t or won’t cook. These are just some of the expenses she told me.
she makes $70K a yr. do these numbers make sense?

You should never date someone your mom’s age. That is just weird.
We encourage kids (those who are in their 20s are kids to us)… to date up/down 2-5 years apart…
My ex hubby is 9 months younger.
My hubby is 7 years older.

Finances 😂… ex hubby terrible. Makes good money but don’t understand how to manage money to become wealthy. I couldn’t have help make lots of money with him, if he was trained by his mom to not pay off credit cards or their mortgages. He didn’t like that I was financially responsible.
Hubby now… we work very well together with finances.

I do agree, most young people nowadays lack financial literacy due to parents who did not teach their kids.

Find a good woman around your age. Work together to build wealth.

My wife stayed home with our kids for 11 years until the youngest started first grade. We were far from wealthy. We struggled to make ends meet and if we had to take one of the kids to the doc we could not afford the supermarket that week and had to eat out of the closet.

It’s a cop out. My wife stayed at home. It was VERY difficult. But in the end we thought it was the best way to raise our children (as opposed to letting strangers raise them). It can be done if you have the will to do it.
