Do you donate to welfare projects?

There is a lot of poverty. We consume more than we need. Do you donate money on the street or when you hear about a charitable project (forest fires in Australia, floods, hurricanes)? Or perhaps to save on taxes?

Yes it's been mostly in food and other home needed goods. I don't call it welfare but one place I donate money every single year is St Jude's Children's Hospital.
At the restaurant I have all daily leftover prepared food picked up by a shelter for the homeless as everything is made fresh each day for our use.

If it’s not too complicated, yeah. I was asked to donate to some air rescue organization that had an official booth in a supermarket. I had the 50€ bill already in my hand, when they said they needed my phone number, so that somebody could call me, ask for my bank account and initiate a wire debit. 😖
I told them Sorry, I don’t trust people with my personal information and walked away.

Here’s the problem with “charities”. Show me where the money is going. Is there an administrative staff and marketing budget soaking up 40% of donations? Then I’m not interested. Is a church involved and so the charity is contingent on listening to their propaganda? Then I’m not interested.

Kind of.

I distrust ''organisations''.

But on a personal level I do support people I know personally with getting along.

It's not a ''traditional'' donation each time. I do not buy me a good conscience.

But I do know that it reaches those who deserve it.
