Why do poor people hate being called poor?

Don’t get me wrong I’m not rich but I don’t get offended when people call me poor. I have noticed people who aren’t rich hate being called poor and it’s kind of funny cause why are you mad? It’s the truth 😂

Because it's a limit. I am not rich but I am not poor. I dont have lots of money but I do have a lot of wealth. If we could measure my happiness against someone who is rich happiness. I might be happier. does that make them poor in comparison to me? Poor is how you see me not how I see me and that's why people hate it. Wealth means possession. You can’t possess happiness. So when talking about wealth most people refer to money. If you don’t have enough of it to be considered rich then you’re poor. It’s simple as that.

From my experience you call a rich person poor he will agree with you because his money is not where he wants it to be. But call a poor person poor… all hell break loose. Lets say I had a garden and you had 1 million dollars. Your rich and im poor. The world ends and you have that million dollars i have my garden. Now who's rich and who's poor? I see rich and poor as perspective. Like you said a rich person's money might not be as much as he wants so he calls himself poor. A homeless person isn't going to see that rich guy unhappy with his amount of money as poor... when you die you don't take money with you is that going to make you die poor? People don't like being called poor because its not how they identify

Someone can say " fuck you asshole!" And then give that person a hug and in tears. Sharing love with how both people receive and respond.

We glorify wealth to so much that being thought of as poor is deemed a pejorative. Same goes for “ignorant”. Nobody knows everything and people demonstrate ignorance all the time.
