Do you think you understand what's going on in politics right now?

I'm just curious how many people really strongly believe that they know what they're talking about and they have a good reason not to have their mind changed.

I think its fairly simple. The right wing has gotten "emboldened" if you wish to call it that however from my point of view it means that they have skipped the pretense of having a political argument. Politicians like Trump and his ilk no longer run on policy or political ideology and instead run on populism and culture wars. Its all emotion and bullshit which means that by default, the opposition is less crazy and have more things of substance.

Literally no amount of modern right wing talking points could ever change my mind because I do not base my political views on my personal emotions and other nonsense. I want actual policy arguments and such which just does not exist anymore in right wing politics.

More than most. Economic leaning educations lend themselves very well to understanding politics. I also have a somewhat healthy interest in it and, perhaps most importantly, am not currently subjected to any crazy propaganda campaigns.

Of course, like literally everyone on earth i am subjected to some propaganda campaigns. They're just not very pushy and still try to use reality.
