Why do Turks brag a lot?

Turks in Turkey don't even look like real Turks from the middle asia.

And they are very mixed races with arabs, persians etc.

And they also try so hard to look like europeans, brag with American brands clothes and tech.

But then they say "We Turks are the best!!!"

Honestly, the question itself isn’t clear I don’t exactly get what you mean by “what Turks in Turkey brag about” but I’ll try to explain as best as I can.


A lot of Turks brag about being the continuation of the Ottoman Empire or about Atatürk rebuilding the country from scratch during the War of Independence. Basically, they’re proud because they see their history as deep and strong.


Yeah, Turks in Turkey don’t really look like Central Asians anymore but the roots are the same. And when you say “Turks” you’re actually talking about a whole bunch of different Turkic nations.


In Turkey specifically, aside from Syrian refugees, there aren’t Arab or Iranian ethnic groups. As a side note, Iran actually has a massive Turkish population out of 90 million people, about 40 million are Turks, and even their presidents have been Turkish. Religion has influenced Turkey a lot though. Originally, the first Turks believed in Tengri, the Sky God. Personally, I don’t like Arabs, and honestly, most Turks don’t either.


And about trying to look “European,” you’re totally right. Especially when I see someone flexing with their iPhone and then turning around like, “We’re boycotting Israel!” I laugh my ass off.
And especially those who try to imitate America or Europe don’t feel sincere to me.


Sure, after the Ottoman Empire, Turkey did fall behind in terms of technology and became a developing country. But people who say “Turkey is the best” are just clueless. It’s not about being insecure it’s about accepting mistakes and trying to get better.
