I'm trying to stay out of the shutdown discussion politics, but I fail to understand how people would believe that it's okay for the Democrats to blame the Republicans.

It's pretty simple. In the last vote, the day before the shutdown, Senate Republicans voted to avoid a shutdown (as the Democrats and Republicans in the House had already voted) while the Senate Democrats voted to shutdown.

Good, there needs to be less of federal government and more emphasis in the individual states. That is what our constitution clearly states in the 10th amendment: powers not given to the federal government nor prohibited to the states is given to the states.

Many government and public affairs should be handled by each state on their own with minimal federal overreach or interference. If a multistate cooperative is needed, there is something called an "interstate compact agreement". Federal government should mainly be handling protecting the sovereignty of the country as a whole from foreign invaders (including illegals), handling conflicts that may arise between states, and issues that may arise when interstate travel is involved. Otherwise, the federal government should be A LOT smaller.
