I would not be against that as a one-shot because it happened so suddenly just before harvest season. That money can easily come out of the tariffs. But I don't like ongoing farm subsidies.

China obviously did that timing on purpose, which as far as I'm concerned should be reason to raise the tariff for China even higher. They should NEVER have been given favored nation status. I was against it when it happened, and I'm still against it.

Also keep in mind that the soybean market was already changing before this happened. Those farmers should have already been considering changing crops. The writing has been on the wall a long time now. They need to adjust.
