I am asking because it certainly appears that way to me. These people are going to provvoke their way into it because they think they will somehow win. I predict the tipping point will be when Trump cancels the the mid-term elections because of "national security". I doubt that even normally passive Americans will tolerate this. What do you think?

No. Although I consider a military coup to be the more likely of the two. As to civil war where are the lines draw? Essentially it would be a conflict of resistance which would be colored as terrorism by the jokers in power, which you might consider to be happening already given the military invasions of cities already happening. When you look at it really the split is more rural vs urban than state vs state or region vs region.
The destruction of democracy in America is really pretty much complete at this point. Trump loyalists purchased dominion voting systems that provide many of the machines used in elections, They are redistricting many states to increase their advantage in the house and senate, Their voter ID measures will make it difficult for many low income voters as they will need to retrieve an official birth certificate which takes time and money and either a computer or transportation in order to get the officially accepted ID in the first place. They are trying to make it so that the voters name must match the birth certificate exactly. This disenfranchises many women outright as they now use their husbands names. They are normalizing a military presence in cities so there will be no struggle when they post militant groups at voting places in cities to chill turnout and intimidate, cities are generally Dem as noted. Being in Texas I xcan tell you there are many many more voter suppression tactics in place already.
And if they lose? Watch them simply refuse to hand over the reigns claiming a national emergency and declaring martial law, sponsored by SCOTUS (small example of refusing to seat Adelita Grijalva to her house position. Remember, dictators ALWAYS fall when the military refuse to protect them. I see this as the ending point whenever this might be.

That appears to be the only logical end to the fascism and Oligarchy we are currently subjugated by. I hope it is a temporary military coup and a an economic bloodbath for the people at the top along with life in prison without parole. Anything less just leaves them around to start over again the next day.

In the US? I think it's unlikely, but it seems to be more likely every day. Our military leaders swore an oath to the Constitution, and have a duty to disobey unlawful orders. Will they obey their oaths? How many will? Will the people who voted for Trump and the Republican Congress, now suffering from the cuts to programs and projects vital to their communities vote differently in 2026? Will their Senators and Representatives ever fulfill their duties to support the Constitution?

I don't think he will cancel the midterm elections. But I do think he'll try to stay for another term. And depending how the country is then he might succeed. Rome did not stay a republic. And the Roman republic was already a broken system when Julius Caeser seized power. If Trump continues to gain populous support he could do it.
