How can someone who now pays their entire salary for a three-bedroom apartment get married and have five children? Even if they never marry, their salary alone is only enough to pay the rent. Is this a good economy? Even when rent in Europe is only one-third of their salary, people criticize them for their high rents. They are calling for a change of government.

Paying 20,000 for a theree bedroom apartment is quite reasonable, and an average person can easily afford it. A young person earning minimum wage doesn’t live in a three bedroom apartment anywhere in the world, so your example makes no sense at all. Having a wedding is expensive, but after its done, there is no problem. Two young people earning minimum wage can easily manage their lives with 45,000, even by your own calculation.
Also, rents are this high only in Istanbul. In Anatolia, where 80% of the country’s population lives, rents don’t go over 7 or 8 thousand.

One bedroom apartment is not 15,000 lira anywhere in Turkey unless it is brand new or has a sea view. If someone earning minimum wage lives alone, a one bedroom apartment for around 8-10 thousand lira is enough for them. Also this situation is only like this in Istanbul. In Anatolia, rents are much much lower.
