There are fringe movements here to be independent not part of the US. There is nothing to be gained from becoming a US state. Those provinces are rich in resources and can survive independently. US has too much debt for those provinces.

I live in one of those provinces and it's a minority that want to separate and they don't want to be part of the US. I don't know where you are getting this but it's fake news. The group that wants to separate wants to be independent. These are the same provinces that are pressuring the PM to drop tariffs with China and ditch the US. These are agricultural provinces and don't want to be screwed like American farmers.
