Do you think Lafayette’s honorary U. S. citizenship was deserved?

I found this interesting since I really didn't know anything about it. I googled and asked AI getting the same basic reply from both:
"The question of whether Lafayette's honorary U. S. citizenship was deserved is largely answered with a resounding yes, based on his profound and enduring contributions to the American cause during the Revolutionary War and his continued advocacy for American ideals throughout his life"
It could have been one sided programming to promote that. I can only speculate since I wasn't there. 🤷♀️
Wildly overrated!!! I'll take Thaddeus Kosciuszko!!! A REAL foreigner who HEAVILY contribute to USA American, Polish & French in Napoleonic era.

Just for what he did in France he's already more American than half our current population. I don't know his full story but based on what I know he seems like a picture of what being American is all about.

More than deserved. Read "Lafayette in the (somewhat) United States" by Sarah Vowell.
IF he had not helped at the time of the revolution, we would still be part of England.
You should decide that in the context of the time of the revolution.
I definitely think he does.
Do you?
Of course
