Many of these answers here show how good the Republicans have influenced their cult by claiming it’s the democrats fault that there is a government shutdown. The Republicans voted to keep spending at the same level as during the Biden administration. However, they don't have enough senators to pass it by themselves; as it requires 60 votes in the Senate to avoid a filibuster. So as much as the DNC loves to blame the GOP; they are the ones holding up the spending bill. Though as a libertarian I totally support the DNC in their efforts to keep the government shutdown. A support I will have to relenquish once they go back to business as usual. They are quite terrible when it comes to actually spending money.

Right. The Republicans cannot have what they want— to cut the spending for healthcare (ACA) and affordable health insurance for people who buy their own, without Democrats agreeing to. That’s because democrats know health insurance premiums will skyrocket to 3 times as much for people if they do go along with it. The democrats are not the ones who are stopping Americans from going hungry this November, nor are they the ones being ordered by judges to unfreeze those benefits so people will have money for food. It is the Trump administration and those who agree with him that are being ordered.
That’s the difference. The Republicans are just waiting for the expiration date for those healthcare laws to pass, and using the democrats as an excuse.
