Trumps kind of tarifs where never focues on decreasing prizes. They where focused on nationalizing economy. To be less interactive with the world market.
Crazy thing is people wanted it. It wax obvious from the start that it will generally increase prizes and only decrease them by making worse products available to sell on the national market.

Canadians would love to be able to buy American dairy because it’s dirt cheap compared to theirs. So rather than lower their dairy prices, they just put huge tariffs on American dairy. They didn’t do that to punish their citizens, they did it to protect Canadian dairy farmers. I’m not sure if Canadians cry themselves to sleep about tariffs the way liberal Americans do. Maybe they just accept it because they’re able to see the big picture.

Canada does import American dairy without tariffs up to a certain amount but because American dairy does not meet our standards, there haven't been enough dairy imports to even come close to the quota to have tariffs applied.
