8 moYes and no. It really is hard to be happy, content, or satisfied in certain circumstances.
If you're struggling to make ends meet, struggling to provide for yourself and your family, your loved ones are fatally ill, you suffer from chronic pain or have health issues, and unable to achieve your dreams in life, then it's extremely hard to be happy no matter what you try to make of it. Because your reality is what it is.
And it's hard because we compare by nature. When we see others living la vida loca, traveling the world 24/7 to luxurious locations, eating the best food, having their dream homes (not necessarily mansions, but any beautiful living spaces like tree houses, beach houses, etc.), hiking and camping at beautiful locations, getting the best healthcare, traveling in comfort (whether it's first class flights or luxury vehicles), not having to work because they have so much money, it makes us envious and want that for ourselves. It's because we know what's out there.
Ignorance is truly bliss. When you don't know what's out there, you're only aware of your own circumstances. If you are disconnected from the world and live in circumstances below what everyone else has, you could still be happy, because you don't know what's out there in the world. All you know is your own experience. The internet and social media has connected us all, but is fueled on jealousy and desire. It makes us all envious and desire a better life, and not be content with our own.10 Reply

6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Definitely. I think it's best to make the best of things and find contentment, no matter your circumstances. That's what people did in simpler times, and it's still possible if we appreciate what we have instead of yearning for more. Our five senses, perceptiveness, imagination, and the wonders of nature are things for which we can find peace and gratitude.
At the same time, working hard provides us with shelter and sustenance.11 Reply

- Luck plays a role for sure. Some people are born into wealth and others poverty. Some people are born with perfect physical attributes while others are born with disabilities. Some of us are smarter than others.
- The people you encounter are a random variable but the people you surround yourself with are a choice.
- Education is a combination of your opportunities, the teachers your encounter, and your own desire to learn.
- Your values are shaped by your community and your direct experience. However at the end of the day you are responsible for the lessons you take from the world around you. Empathy or hate. Introspective thought or a victim mentality. Greed or generosity. Hard work or laziness. Caring or ignoring. Being in control or being a doormat. Resisting change or embracing change. Curiosity or numbness.
I think at some point you have to take responsibility for yourself and stop blaming your parents, high school bullies, the situation you were born into, and the universe. It's called growing up and becoming an adult. If you don't care about yourself, no one else will either. Make an effort to move forward or don't complain about your shitty life.
20 Reply 27.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes and no. You are born into a family. This can determine where you grow up, go to school and how you get positioned in life. Or else you live in a place with crime, bad schools and poverty. There are many exceptions to this. The United States is famous for it's upward mobility. There is a lot that the individual can do to improve their station in life.
Vice President JD Vance is a good example of this. He was born in a rural town, his mother was a drug sddict and he was raised by his grandmother. After high school he joined the Marines and afterwards he used the GI Bill to go to college. He was admitted to Yale Law School and become and attorney. He worked in finance and wrote a best selling book. He ran for the senate and was chosen to be Vice President.10 Reply

Life doesn’t hand you meaning, you build it yourself.
It’s shaped by how you think, what you choose, and how you respond when things fall apart.
You can’t control everything, but you can control the way you live through it.
That’s what makes the difference.10 Reply- 775 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
8 moYeah, it definitely can be.. There are plenty if people who were born in terrible circumstances and got themselves out by whatever means necessary.. Within reason of course.. But there's also plenty of things out of our control in which sometimes we won't be able to get pass..
10 Reply 200%. You walk down the path of life and make the decisions that are right for you and the ones that are wrong for you. Boyh types of decisions will make you stronger.
20 Reply393 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I'd say it's true but not 100% some times life makes you make it what it is based on what's going on in your life.
Sometimes we have to make decisions that are the best at the moment even though maybe they really aren't but sometimes we don't know.
Life's short live it up!

8 moA happy life is just a string of happy moments. But most people don’t allow the happy moment, because they’re so busy trying to get a happy life. - Abe Hicks

20 Reply 728 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Of course not. Life is what it is, but effort or lack of effort and good or bad decisions can make life better or worse.

Because otherwise it means I’m giving up
And I can’t do that. I goes against my nature10 ReplyAgree. Life isn’t always fair or predictable, but how you respond to it shapes your reality more than what happens to you. Your choices, mindset, and effort define the kind of life you build.

10 Reply You have to go out and get it - a good life isn't a gift that's coming in your direction. The eternal search for happiness is super important.
