I love ya Mewtwo, but I don't agree at all. I've talked enough on GAG about inferior height, looks, poor upbringing, abusive families, bad luck, etc., enough on GAG to not agree with that quote.

Everyone is different. You have people that are extremely rich totally mess up their lives and end up homeless.
Then there are people like me that just got dealt a crappy hand of cards and their whole life is one struggle after another. I call myself a Murphy's child after Murphy's Law - if anything can go wrong it will. That's me. I got back in life without a family supporting me in anyway. While some families have 19 kids in their family and there's always someone there making your life better for you.
It all depends on if you are born into a family that takes proper care of you, financially and emotionally. Not very many of us were that lucky unfortunately.

Disagree. A child born into a affluent family in a nice area will have huge advantages over one born into poverty. The poor child will face a worse education and even if he attains the same grades will face discrimination when it comes to getting a job when he's older.
It's the wealthy child that grows up to win Wimbledon or formula one, it's the wealthy child that becomes a great writer or politician.
Yes there are exceptions but they are the far from the norm.

I will say this is TRUE obviously BUT you CAN make it out of POVERTY and be everything you wanna be but you will face a heavy mass of obstacles to get there versus the silver spoon kid with the red carpet laid out for them, just cause you're born broke does not mean you should remain broke.

Strongly disagree, I have seen this firsthand here in the Midwest. Social connections (church membership, family name, etc.) trump (no pun intended) hard work, intelligence, principles, etc.

I doubt this is true everywhere.

If you are born "economically challenged " in places like this, you must not only work harder that the working and middle classes, but also get lucky and take advantage of others to get ahead.

Yeah, I'm one of them! Not just that, but I'm told I'm supposed to "not be upset about it" and pretend to be all happy-smiley anyway even though life is literally meaningless for me and I have nothing to live for. But yes, I agree.

It's not wrong to be upset at something like that. Sure, some things are out of our control, doesn't mean we can't feel upset. We shouldn't dwell on those things to the point of it being a detriment to our lives as a whole, but we can't ignore that they exist either.

Some people are just born ass-backwards into success and happiness. I'll literally never know any of that due to things entirely outside of my control and I'm told I'm not supposed to complain about it and "look on the bright side" that at least I also don't have cancer-AIDS with it or something. Call me a cynic, but I've never been a "things could hypothetically get worse, that makes everything great and peachy now" kind of liar to myself.

I think effort matters, but at the end of the day, most effort people make is meaningless. That's why there are so few "rags to riches" stories in the world. If all it took was "hard work" to get ahead, then every hard working person would be a success story, instead of like 95-99% of them never getting anywhere in life.

I think one can start from the bottom and will have more obstacles than those starting from the top. But there's only so many obstacles a human being can overcome. We all have our limits. I *SURE AS F'CKING HELL* know what it's like to start from the dirt bottom as much as an American can. And even today, I haven't really gotten anywhere and no one respects me cause I'm not tall or handsome enough. It's okay though; I've gotten used to it and have tempered my expectations in life to the bare minimum (not get killed today; that's about it). Dreams are for the lucky.

You never thought about Law school? I could see you as a DA prosecutor I know you once mentioned trying LE, but what about working with the DA, you can help represent & help some good people charged of stupid crimes by picking and choosing the case or getting it dismissed before it even hits the judge or you can help punish criminals to the best extent as possible. But you may like being a teacher I just notice in Cali a ADA makes alotta money lol that's Power & Respect right there.

Lol look into being a Gastro Dr, the PA's do all the talking to patients & the Gastro Dr's only hang out in the outpatient center doing endoscopy and Colonoscopys most the time and putting people to sleep so they don't even Really talk to patients lol if your a MD as a Gastro, that's what I seen them mostly do.
