That depends where you live. For example, in the Caribbean where fresh water is often scarce especially in the summer, you'll see signs in local bathrooms saying:
"If it's yellow, let it mellow... if it's brown, flush it down".

That's because many establishments are on cistern water or have it trucked in to accommodate their needs in dry season, and that isn't cheap.

Maybe you'd know these things if you ever left the United Snakes.
