Ignoring which side is or isn't sane?

In general discussing a problem and how to solve it, absent political affiliations and groups, is a quick way to get people to agree.

If someone goes off, as an example, about feminism they are likely to be tuned out in 2025. If instead they discuss the question. For example people being equally treated for the same things, pretty much everyone agrees.

Hopping to a popular Republican talking point of borders, becausw you do mean republicans and democrats and not left and right, correct?

If we remove political affiliation and say "Should we paint our side of the wall or fence black so it heats up and makes it harder for us to climb in order to keep the people on the other, not painted, side out?" both sides will declare you a moron. If you do it on both sides to make the wall last, fair enough. If however you say something sensible like "Should we set up a clear path to citizenship and immigration and make sure people use it?" again both sides will fully agree, it provides control and a legitimate pathway, of course with the details still being important.

So basically if your policies are good then discuss those, not the side you are on. Good ideas are rarely fought when treated only on their own merit. There are naturally issues like no idea being good for everyone, but that is true for anything.

It’s not the rare sane leftists who need help. Their views are becoming somewhat more moderate as the greater majority of the party becomes more radical.
I have been a left leaning moderate for twenty years, and i’ve always found Bill Maher to be far left. He is now challenging and criticizing democrats for their nonsense. My position hasn’t changed dramatically and he swears his didn’t either. Yet i find myself agreeing with him more often than not now because so much of his platform is about tearing down the “woke” nonsense.
The radical left is beyond help, and the moderate left doesn’t need help. Still, i post facts where rhetoric, half truths and outright lies seem to manifest and hope that the less radicalized will use my contributions to inspire them to look more deeply for themselves into what is real and what is perception driven by media.

Maybe restore the Republican party to the much more civil party it was before Trump. Then slightly leaning conservatives like myself may come back to it. Until he's gone, they've lost me.
