Victimless crimes are usually a title that applies to where non-physical entities such as banks are hurt but not any actual people, right? Or some garbage like getting arrested for loitering, which is more about the private property where it happens rather than any real harm. I can see the argument about how enforcing these laws is made to benefit the status quo more than it is actual people, but at the same time embezzling from a small business is a pretty shitty thing to do. Obviously nothing is purely black and white and this is one of those instances where there isn’t a universal, clear answer.

Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of laws are about controlling people, not protecting us. If you agree with those laws, there is no such thing as a victimless crime.
If you believe in victimless crimes, then you’re probably a libertarian at heart. Unfortunately a free people is impossible to control. It’s preferable to those in power to create the illusion of freedom and use the people’s own “safety” and “security” against them to keep them in line.
I am definitely a libertarian. I believe that people should be able to say and do whatever they want as long as they’re not hurting others or taking things that don’t belong to them. No, words are not violence, particularly between strangers. And no, refusing to work for a slave driver isn’t taking anything away from them. I own my labor and it’s my right to decide how much of it to sell, to whom and for how much.

Victimless crimes do exist for sure. I guess some should still be punished, as a crime, but the level should be inline with the severity. So quite minor for say - dropping litter.
