Women lack emotional stability, and critical thinking up until a certain age. Agree or disagree?

Please read on before you condemn me as a Male chauvinist Pig.

As а member of a sky diving club for many years, I have a great deal of firsthand knowledge about the sport, and what it takes to do it. First off, I only made 8 - static line jumps over a period of about that many years and that does NOT in any way qualify me as an expert by any stretch of imagination.

During my time there, I also did a great deal of reading of statistics, from the USPA United States Parachute Association, as they did keep track of and record the statistics, regarding safety, equipment, licensing requirements and a great deal more.

Within those statistics were the annual fatalities associated with the sport, and although women were a much smaller group of jumpers as compared to men, women accounted for a higher percentage of fatalities than did their male counterparts UP UNTIL THE AGE OF 27, at that point the statistics leveled out. for both men and women.

Along with this, unfortunately, and tragically, one of our club members, a 19-year-old girl, went up on a jump, and did nothing, and made no attempt to deploy either her Main or Reserve canopy and of course died a terrible death, leaving her parents to ask themselves why?

I had worked with her father at a local bank there in Ohio.

We found later that her Boyfriend, also a club member had suddenly broken off with her, and apparently had left her in a state of terrible depression, which apparently was not diagnosed or dealt and led to this 'alleged' suicide.

With all of this said, it does APPEAR that from an Emotional stability, standpoint, women seem to be more "fragile' (if that is a good term to use) than men appear to be at the same age.

I only present this to GAG as one person's POV based on the statistic, from a sport that is VERY emotionally challenging and loaded with stress, as it applies to very young women and their ability to cope with emotional events in their life and how they MAY to deal with them.

A Females body is Designed for two things - not for Just herself, but it's also designed to incubate and Grow another Human.

In my Observation, their Body Has to daily Fight to find the Balance between the two things it was Designed for..

The amount of Hormones and complex Metabolic Activites they have to go through every month, It's literally not Possible for Body to Find the Balance between these two everyday..

All the WEIRD SHIT WOMEN DO in their Youth is on Days of "IMBALANCE"..

But By age of 27 their body adapts itself and is able to Find balance much faster and stay balanced for longer.. that's why that Shenanigans ends..

I think Women till age 27 should be Declared a teenager!

@Levin I only quoted the statistic. Nothing more. Women with their lower number of jumpers compared to men, have a HIGHER number of fatalities, up until age 27. No idea of what you mean by 'following your logic" Nothing to do with men committing suicide more often than women. I am not talking about suicide statistics. Please don't confuse what I wrote with suicide stats.

I don't think you're a chauvinist but I just don't understand why you are asking the question. You knew it would stir up controversy which, I suppose there is nothing wrong with controversial questions but what would you do with the answer if it was proved with statistics or not? What does it matter if we agree or disagree? What is it that you really want from this? I mean it's obvious you already have your own opinion so what do you want us to do with this?

And the story of the 19 yr old is sad and tragic but I dont believe it fits your example. She made a choice and followed through with it. You're judging her stability on exterior factors that you perceive when only she will ever know the truth of that.

@RandomGirl42 First, I want to thank you for your calm and understanding reply to my question, and I know it is controversial, and that many would take violent issue with it. I think my question was driven by 1) the young girl that I knew that committed suicide at the Jump Club (supposedly because Drew, her boyfriend, abruptly dropped her and broke her heart) She took her own life over that terrible incident, leaving her mother and father to grieve over her death) Had she been a bit older THAT WOULD NOT have happened and she would be alive today. 2) Another young friend (21) nearly ended her life on a motorcycle, losing her leg above the knee, her left kidney, and suffering brain damage due to a stroke on the operating table. Had she been in her mid 20's or older she would NOT have been speeding and drinking and riding a motorcycle.

I think you are truly a good woman, and have more understanding, of what I was driving at. I think that young women are more driven by 'emotion' rather than logic, and it many times costs them dearly. I will take the memory of those two young women to my grave, and only wish that I, or someone could have intervened with them, and they would be alive today.

@RandomGirl42 We have ALL suffered heat over broken marriages (me) and broken relationships. In my 20's, I was nearly suicidal over my loved one breaking off with me. As I got older, I knew the sun would come up tomorrow, and my life would go on. In all honesty, I think April was so broken, she could not see a new day, and many time many of us feel that way. I saw my much younger peers, when I was 20, to be more fragile

The mark of a good statistician is the ability to come to a sound conclusion based on the data presented to them. Based on the data that you have presented to us, a very sound conclusion to make would be that it is ill-advised for women under the age of 27 to participate in the extreme sport of skydiving due to a higher risk factor. Instead, what you’re doing is taking these incredibly niche statistics of an even more niche group of people and applying them to the whole of the female population. Not all women are capable of skydiving, even more women don’t want to skydive, we don’t know why people of these age groups choose to participate in this extreme sport but what we do know is that, among those that have voluntarily participated, there is a higher mortality rate among women than men in that specific age group. Your conclusion that it applies to all women of all walks of life, all economic backgrounds, and all races, is incredibly unsound and makes no logistical sense based on the incredibly small control group from which your data originates.

The freeze/fawn response is more prevalent in women. Which is probably what you're seeing reflected in those numbers. It's also why men are more apt in military situations.

@ariesman81 Exactly. Although on my first jump, I 'froze' before the canopy opened. I gave up the sport for that reason. After a few jumps, I was 'aware' seeing the airplane bank and turn as I fell away from it, but still, it was more stress than I wanted to deal with

She is a tiny woman, and was hit head on by a drunk driver, her tractor caught fire and burned to the ground. She was 35 and got out unscathed. She was calm and collected. Maturity saved her life.

people lack emotional stability. women as well as men. the thing you described is not a thing exclusive to women. you made it sound as if it was a thing exclusive to women. that's what i'm trying to indicate.

and for the facts you were presenting: i have no idea what particular statistic you read that showed women die more in skydiving. because it sure seems that the overwhelming majority of available literature indicates that men actually die more than women in skydiving accidents by a factor of 1,5-5.

to be honest i googled that shit up cause i'm in social sicence and i know men die more in younger years than women specifically cause higher testosterone levels in men and compounding cultural factors lead men to be more risk taking and thus more exposed to risk. so that means risk taking behavior especially in younger years (under 27) leads more MEN to die not women. like maybe you read the statistic wrong or you found the one statistic out of 100 that actually had that result but i'm telling you: men die more here and that's consistent in pretty much any field that researches mortality.

so circling back to your argument, that would mean men are actuallyless emotionally stable and less critically thinking up to a certain age. but i'm not gonna go there. women are as stupid as women when it comes to emotinal maturity and development of critical thinking. only difference being: women tend to be more risk avers meaning they die less not more. you definitely got that stat wrong.
