People are not illegal, behavior is. Describing someone as “illegal” is just a lazy way to say that they circumvented the lawful ways to enter the country and contribute meaningfully to our economy and society.
It bears mentioning that people who choose not to enter via the appropriate channels likely have no desire to contribute meaningfully, but do intend to take from our economy and society. That is why it’s really not that offensive to abbreviate the description of people who perpetrate such illegal activities as “illegal” themselves.
I have never in my life worried about hurting the feelings of criminals. I don’t understand people who do.

if somebody enters this country without authorization they are illegal. They are not "undocumented citizens" they are not " visitors" and they are not " non citizens without status. They are ILLEGAL.
