China is providing support to countries around the world to improve their image while building a type of empire.

They will go to a poor country and build roads, provide military services etc. But in exchange they effectively own the country because the aid they offer comes with the strings of debt attached.

Ordinarily, it's not much of a big deal, we do this too. But they're beginning to move from Africa to south America.

Venezuela is a country we have invested a lot into and Maduro getting in bed with the enemy of the country which has relatively speaking always had his country's back is a sign that Chinese influence is approaching uncomfortably close to our territory.

It's bad enough they own so much of our land and farming, now their conquest is endangering our backyard.

From a political or military point of view, this is a situation which cannot be ignored.

There are other ways trump could have responded to the situation. His approach is essentially to undermine maduros authority and render the country useless to china
