Ironically small caliber firearms are much less important on modern battle field like in Ukraine because drones and massive use of precision artillery increased the killing zone to 15km from front line.

It's a tool used as a way to kill. I honestly think its better messaging then "you touch this you are instantly a killer!" Guns are a POWERFUL tool that can't be undone once fired. It will destroy everything in its way. It's a job well done for the tool but people will pass judgment using a tool.

I honestly think the best anti gun advocacy should lean into self defense gun ownership mind set and point out how corrosion all of gun ownership turned into that it's not viable to defend your own home anymore. It's going to cost $250,000 plus to prove your own rights.

The only ones scared of guns are government officials who know that if they screw up too much, they can find themselves at the business end of those self-defense tools, violent criminals facing the same threat and people these two groups have successfully manipulated into fearing literally everything that has the slightest potential to cause harm. Are You guys afraid of travelling by plane, as well? You know, if it malfunctions and falls from the sky (and Boeing has been apparently having a number of quality issues recently, so it might be more likely than You think), it will cause quite a lot of death! Now... With a plane, You've got the alternative of travelling by train, bus, car, ship... Well, that's a fail. I'm literally Polish, living in Poland. We've got a horrible anti-gun law here and I absolutely hate it. I do frequent a shooting range, though, to pick up some skill. If I could, I would stock up on so many guns and so much ammo my room would look like an armory. Some handgun for self-defense in the streets. Shotguns and rifles for any trips into the wilderness. Some SMG against hateful, zombie-like leftists/feminists. If I could afford it, a.50 cal BMG anti-materiel in case they come in some Antifamobiles. Does that scare You? Boo!

Oh, and obviously, while I am a conservative and I do respect President Donald Trump, I cannot really vote for Him since I am not a US citizen, and I am far from worshipping Him, as I frequently call Him out for supporting the (prolonged?) genocide of Palestinians in Palestine. Also, the almost-right-wing option (the PiS party supporting our current President might be socialist and therefore not right-wing at all, but He would not have won without the support of the centrist Confederacy "Freedom and Sovereignty" and the right-wing Confederacy of the Polish Crown - jeez, it feels so weird to translate those names into English) might have won the presidential elections, but our President is not like US President, He cannot just grant the citizens any rights via an executive order or put enough pressure on the Parliament to force them to pass a law granting those rights, and our gun laws are still post-communist, and therefore very anti-gun.

Technically, You could apply for a self-defense permit under the current law, but the local leader of the police force is allowed to deny Your application on their own accord even if You fit all the formal requirements, and one of those requirements is to prove You are under direct threat (and no, being alive in a country with a non-zero rate of violent crime does not count, neither does living in a country that might soon go to a dumb war with Russia - it's literally designed to keep citizens away from guns).

@Ariesman81 Well... Our current President is a former professional boxer (not a world-famous one, though). Our Prime Minister and his side attempted to smear Him as an unruly football fan in the past (which He apparently actually was, but the reveal only made Him more popular with a certain large demographic of Polish voters 😆) and a pimp (while He was working as a security guard at a certain hotel - this one actually failed, I don't think anyone outside of the Prime Minister's side took it seriously). You could say He is a bit more of an actual fighter. Definitely looks like one compared to our previous President. Maybe there is some hope for us, but as of now there is very little of it. The most mob boss-like Polish politician is the leader of the aforementioned Confederacy of the Polish Crown, currently considered to be the fourth/fifth biggest powerhouse for the incoming elections, but He is under an unfair and merciless attack by the left side. Think what happened to Donald Trump before the 2024 presidential elections. On the other hand, He's gained some serious popularity by standing up to the economy-killing sanitary regime during the supposed pandemic earlier and a few other acts of His. The thing is, I don't think Putin actually wants to take over Poland militarily, he most likely only wants to make Poland neutral as opposed to strongly anti-Russian - my point was more about the government fearmongering with Putin and still not allowing us to have guns at home. In the off chance Putin would attack, I believe most Polish men, me included, would likely not lift a finger to defend Poland. And it's not about cowardice - it's about who we'd be protecting. As a Polish man, I feel like I would protect a government that doesn't care about me in the best case and actively wants me dead in the worst case, while also defending Polish women, who at this point are mostly Western-style man-hating feminists who also want me dead. Even if, by some miracle, I found a girlfriend who would be actual wife material, it would still make more sense to flee Poland with her in tow, since the majority of the non-draftable part of the Polish society still wants me dead and is therefore undeserving of my protection. Since I was brought up as a Polish patriot, it really pains me to say it, but it is no longer the Poland the patriarch of Your family came from - it's a Westernized, man-hating hellhole undeserving a single drop of its men's blood in its defense. I also have a vague feeling most men in Western Europe have a similar take regarding the defense of their own countries.
