I'd say a mass shooting or a shooting anywhere is a sad thing, but as long as there are MAGA type, phony bible thumper ultra conservatives, greedy rich piles of garbage people still around these things will continue to happen. I do believe in gun ownership, however I detest the republican fight to prevent tougher gun laws and regulations for the purchase or ownership of one. The gun doesn't kill, the MORON who pulls the trigger Kills.

Nothing that would ban any now legal weapon, however a National run registration where all the apples are in one basket for vetting and eliminating any kind of same day sale of any rifle, shotgun or handgun. Any and all person to person gun sales would go through a local FFA licensed agency with severe prison sentences for violations of these rules not just a slap on the hand. Gun trafficking offences a min 20 year non negotiable prison sentence. Not any of this would create any danger to the normal gun advocate.

Conservatives have corrupted the intent of the second amendment to our constitution:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

In 1939, the supreme court unanimously held that the 2nd amendment does not guarantee an individual the right to keep and bear arms unless the weapon in question has “some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia”.

The 2nd does NOT allow citizens to have guns for personal protection. It took 70 years of lower court decisions and political wrangling to chip away at the 1939 ruling. Only in 2008 did the supreme court decide that 2nd does allow for personal protection.

Somehow every impotent yahoo who needs a gun to feel strong is a militia of one.

In just 2023, there were 627 mass shootings in the United States, resulting in 754 deaths and 2,443 injuries.

In the US, mass shootings happen every day. They're so commonplace that they don't usually make the news.

Gun-related homicide rates in Australia average about 1 per million people per year, compared with 30 to 40 per million people per year in the USA. I guess with the mass shooting here it will be about 1.5 per million people per year this year.
