Conservatism is merely the resistance to change. Classic liberals love the constitution as much as anyone. The vast majority of constitutional lawyers are progressives. Conservatives have always been at odds with progressives. Some recognition of history and adherence to tradition is good. So is some progress. It’s only bad when we get into the extremes. People who think ALL change is evil, particularly when it affects them negatively. People who think our entire history was a state of nonstop crime and exploitation. Those are the deranged individuals who need to be marginalized. Instead we hail them as misunderstood leaders of the cause, put them in front of a camera and try like hell to get them elected to positions of influence.
