What changed your opinion of law enforcement?

I always pretty much felt the same way about them. Even as a kid, I never liked people who expect immediate and unwavering respect from a title alone. Especially one as stained as the title of peace officer.

Most of them are great. But the bad eggs are tolerated far too much and it's a top down issue with law enforcement. The premise of how the police chiefs and DA's believe policing should work is at its foundation corrosive to the vision of justice outlined in the constitution. This rot has lead to the credibility issues police face now such as brutality towards unarmed/surrendering arestee's, the enforcement of laws even when Incongruent to a relevant public nuisance or issue, their consistent failures in reprimanding officers who fail to uphold the integrity of the position.

It has not changed. The one thing that is true, is that law enforcement is far more afraid now of being shot than anything else. Because it is happening a lot. And as with any group there are always bad actors among the police. So watch what you say.

Nothing. Law enforcement has always been exactly what their title says. They are not a prosecutor or judge in a court, but a an enforcer of the law or a first responder that is onsite whenever there is a crime. They are often the first to show up after a car crash or a shooting. So they put their lives on the line every day just like firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics. I wouldn’t have any other opinion because they don’t make the decisions in the courtroom, just provide evidence.
