What role should countries play in solving global problems like climate change or migration?

If the human population of this planet decreased by about 90%, that would give the Earth's biosphere a good headstart of repairing the damage. After all, Nature is very very good at reclamation - it's been built into the system for 4 billion years.

The reduced population causes a significant reduction in the production of greenhouse gases. In fact, during COVID, there was a marked reduction in the increase of CO2 levels. So, if the production can be sufficiently reduced, Nature would likely be able to reclaim a good amount of it via various methods including plant growth such as reforestation.

At the same time, if the human population is reducted by 90%, that still means there's about 800,000,000 people. Those 800 million should then get their shit together and remake the world energy and production economies converting to completely utilizing renewables. Also, though, there needs to be a way to keep the population in check; a doubling of population every 35 or so years isn't going to help in the long run.

Excellent question. Countries should be working together to solve these issues. No one country can solve these alone... yet one country sure can sabotage solving these issues.

Climate change is just a business model like migration. However it just business for the 1% and a burden for 99%.
Countries or rather governments serve the 1%, when there is nothing more to steal and rob there will be wars. It's question of time until someone pushes the nuclear button and nuclear winter becomes real.

In terms of migration, countries are the only institution that can address illegal immigration. Ditto climate change.

The Left want to get rid the 'nation state' so borders don't exist. An obvious answer is that electors should get rid of the Left. So it really comes down to voters head kicking the Left and forcing their national gov't to address.

With climate change the focus should be on preventing the next ice and ensuring that plants have enough CO2 to live. We came close to all the plants dying - just before the Industrial age started - with CO2 dropping to 180 ppm.

Again national gov'ts re primary in addressing this with voters having ultimate responsibility.

If a country is loosing people, then they need to re examine their government system. I don't think climate change is that big of a deal. All any country can do is try to help people be more conservative with the products we use. For example, recycling, I think more people would do it, if it was easier for them to do it.

Countries cannot do anything to effect climate change. It is a natural process that has been occurring for thousands of years. Solving migration problems is simple, just enforce the immigration laws that each country has.
