The US President announced tariffs on the UK and European nations over Greenland. Declaring that he wants to acquire Greenland, Trump threatened to tear up the trade deals he struck with the UK and the European Union last year and impose new tariffs until he can buy the Danish-administered territory. Denmark is a member of NATO and the European Union.

Trump keeps saying, “you need to protect yourselves against invaders”.

Meanwhile the only one talking about taking Greenland by military force is Donald J Trump President of The United States of America.

Imagine Biden or Obama or Clinton or Carter doing this, our country would say “No!”

Here's what's being discussed as an option if Trump tries to take Greenland. European countries hold over 40% of US debt that there will be a bond selloff sending yields higher. The 10 year bond is tied to lending rates so rising yields mean higher mortgage rates. The Fed could lower interest rates to 0% and it would have no impact on mortgage rates. The countries Trump threatened own a large percentage of US debt, enough to really screw over the US. If the EU coordinated a bond selloff with Asian countries, it could ruin the US financially for at least a decade. The EU doesn't need a military to defend Greenland, they've already outsmarted the US.

So why should we make any future deals with the US if their not worth the paper they're written on?

I think the days of ass kissing Trump and hoping for a nice deal are over. Politicians know it's making them look weak to the electorate and once people start to see higher prices and begin losing jobs there's likely to be a violent backlash against American companies in Europe.

If you look at the opinion pages of right wing papers like the daily mail, usually bastions of Trump supporters, it's clear the mood towards the USA has darkened. It's going to be tricky both offering safety and sanctuary to American refugees fleeing here and waging war on American assets.
