Not always. Tell that to the 100m runners.

Everything is about consistency. Someone working out every day but only doing a 10 minute workout a day, will get better results than someone who does hour long workouts, but skips a lot when they don't feel like going.

It's the same for pretty much anything in life. Consistency and pace matter in the long run. Someone who puts in 2 hours a day to start a side hustle vs someone who puts in 7 hours one day a week... obviously the person who's putting in 2 hours a day will get further. They prevent themselves from burning out by sticking with something that they can realistically commit to, vs burning out from thinking "holy shit I don't want to put in another 7 hours for this, this week. It's too much and it's like adding a whole work day to my schedule."

I prefer “slow is smooth, smooth is fast”

Knowing how to gain speed without gaining “rush” is the true key to winning any kind of race there is

There is a time for "slow and steady" and there are those rare times when speed and decisiveness in the moment is the only rational option. Knowing the difference and being willing and able to roll the dice, knowing the risks, the odds, and the cost of failure is something not many people can do.

That is "The Hare and The Tortois" from Aesop’s fables. It is also true when those in the race are equal. For example, in a marathon, you win the race by running at a steady speed, since that requires less energy than speeding up and slowing down. However, in most other races, the fastest will win.

Agree , consistency and patience often lead to better, lasting results than rushing.

Fast progress can backfire, but steady effort builds momentum and resilience over time.

I don't know why that ever became a saying, being slow never won any races. I understand the meaning of it; that taking your time and being smart about what you're doing will accomplish a goal, but it's a stupid saying.

    Not how races work, sunny.

Exactly zero races have been won by the person that came last.

Depends what you're racing for. That would never win a 100 meter dash.

Only half the time. Half the time you're going to get 50% to 75% through the race before you find out that you made a critical error. Or that some changed the rules of the race on you along the way.
