Is playing the game of cards, the same as playing the cards you have been dealt in life?

Nice question.

I thought your question was literal, but your update make clear you meant figuratively. Two things.

I have negotiated some pretty difficult outcomes between some pretty energised people as a part of my work. I've also managed conflict within teams more times than I probably wanted to. I've been foreman on an initially divided jury and while I know I played a heavy hand, only one juror left that was did not firmly hold of their own volition that the group's decision was the right one.

Yes, I can act strategically. I don't deploy these skills in personal relationships. While people use the word 'negotiation' for both, at work the goal is to get your best feasible outcome. At home it is to find the outcome that works best for both parties.

I have been so very, very lucky playing cards. I almost always seem to win one way or another and I often am not even sure what the game is! 🤣

I went on holiday last year with friends. I've not played cards for years, but I took some just in case we had some spare time. One night we decided to play cards, fortunately the games were just for fun because I found out I was playing against card sharps lol.

Nope. I'm about a half century old now and still f***ing up. But each time I f*** up I learn from it. And as long as the rules don't change in life (which they DO, all of the time) then I'm more prepared the next time.

My momma always told me, "you cannot plan for everything". And after about a half century I finally get what she was trying to say.

I suppose I'm slowly getting the hang of playing my cards. Not remotely close to good, not terrible. I might feel good enough to play a few of my trump cards in a few months time, I guess.

I'm good in 5 Card Draw, Texas Hold'em, Bridge and lot of other card games I don't even know English names for them.
