The good news is that Toys R US did make a seasonal comeback in 2025 & still operates it’s website.

As for toy store K. B toys was always my favorite & as I got older Radio Shacks was my go to toy store.

After a timely process of elimination, K-Mart survived. Payless, Hollywood, and fye were easy outs. Circuit City couldn't live up to Best Buy, Sears was too '70's. Toys and Fry's were more difficult based on nostalgia. And finally Blockbuster had all the keys, they even started the Netflix type format but much like Kodak fumbled the ball on 4th and inches. Also K-Mart is kicking ass in the land down under!

Kmart! They sold things that no other stores carry. Even items from decades ago and I was able to use them again after so long of believing that they just didn't make it anymore.
Now it's gone for good.😔

Oh, they still have Toy R Us in my home state but they paired up with Macy's at the mall. I love going there but it's like 3 hours away. 😳

I've never heard of 2 or 6.
When I was a kid, I went to Kmart A LOT. Slightly over-priced but they had everything!! In later years, I mostly went to Blockbuster of Circuit City. So, any of those or Hollywood Video would do.

Kmart was very sick for a while but when it failed in the US it was bought out in Australia and is now thriving.

It just sells it's own brand though.

Each closed for good reasons. There might still be room for circuit city. Their product mix would have to change.

Probably Sears because of the Craftsman hand tool policy.

They would replace broken hand tools for free.

You can still get Craftsman tools at Lowe's. So they are not out yet.

There is a Sears and an FYE two miles from me right now, there are eight states with a total of eleven Kmart stores. All three have active websites.

Sears. My sister worked in ladies' wear at Windsor, Ont., Sears for nearly 20 years before her Aug.11,2018 colon cancer passing at age 61.
