Rents in LA have decreased to the lowest levels since 2022. Why did this happen?

Despite attempts to be otherwise, California has a capitalist economy. The law of supply and demand applies. If prices go down, it's a sign of less demand. My guess is that the migration of major companies from California to other states causes many residents to move too, which lowers demand. Hence, lower rents.

Because people who want to protect their money and their lives are moving out of California to Texas, Nevada. Tennessee and Florida. I guess hope that they're not stupid enough to try to turn these states blue. Any of these states should deny newcomers to vote in national elections for the first five years that they are here. This one is easy people moving out , more homes for the ones that stay. More Supply , homes go down. It can also be that homes were foreclosed on with a lot companies going under or leaving , fewer jobs. The economy is collapsing. In a depression homes in California will be going for $100,000.

This is probably related to the fact that the Los Angeles Homeless Authority, which rented a hell of a lot of apartments but then never put anybody in them, has finally sort of crashed and is no longer operating.
