Who took land?

I do know there were about 600 differing tribes in North America.

Not a nation.

I do know European settler populations grew over about 250 years or so and sciece, technology, education, law of an advanced society outgrew tribes peoples who moved and lived off the land.

No invasion of a foreign nation.

I am GLAD I live in a modern European society and not tribes people in teepees and Adobe huts. I am glad we had schools and science, mathematics, rule of law, modern weapons, ships and international trade.

I AM GLAD.

Are are pissed at all the Spanish and Portuguese affects on Central and South Amerca?

Makes sense to me!! If you don't want borders then ANYBODY can just come in and take your land!! Just like how if you don't have locks on your doors, anybody can walk in and take your house and anything in it!!

Not really.

Saying borders don’t matter is a values statement about how the world *should* work. Who took land from whom is a historical and ethical question about what *did* happen.

Even if someone believes borders shouldn’t matter today, history still matters because it shapes identity, conflict, and trust. Ignoring that doesn’t make it disappear.

You can question the importance of borders while still recognizing that how land changed hands affects people in real ways.
