Do you and your parents share the same political views?

For the most part, my parents and I have the same political views.

Not really. They align as Republicans soley because of abortion. They don't like Trump and I think they get he's a disaster now but don't admit it. My mom especially is not happy his behavior this term and acknowledged he lied about lowering prices, no more wars, and more affordable housing to name a few.

They're my parents so I just try to help influence them in a positive manner and i know some hardcore folks are like if you don't disown the friends and family you have that voted for Trump you are somehow bad.

To that I don't care what people say I know alienating people is worse and won't change any minds. We all need to comfortable with being able to change enough minds not all to win an election. You can't do that by disowning people. Love will win but it just takes time. My mom admitted she was wrong and feels terrible. She's voting blue this midterms and next election.

With being peaceful, open minded and open hearted I have prob changed about 5 minds lol. That's a lot of everyone does just one.

So if you're feeling defeated just don't give up. That's what people count on you doing.

Also let's remember if we disagree with some folks that doesn't make them evil. Sure some are not not all.

Not at all 😂 My dad is ultra maga. He has a maga hat and even a Trump flag. My mom is less extreme, but she shares pretty much all the same views. I'm fairly liberal, but not leftist like my aunts. So yeah I keep my mouth shut whenever the fam is together, lol.

My father just hated paying taxes. Fair point. I feel I have a more nuanced perspective. I swing depending upon which party seems least likely to ruin the world.

I would characterise myself as a liberal in the historical sense of the word: valuing liberty; embracing all cultures, religions, sexual preferences and life paths; belief that markets mostly, but not always, deliver better outcomes than governments; providing an adequate social safety net.

It's hard to find a politician, much less a party, that shares all those views here, or anywhere most likely.

When turned 18 and started to Vote in Florida, I was Democrat, Mr father said if I registered Republican that I would be wasting my vote. As my Career started to peak I became a Republican as did my father. In 2009, when all that I thought was going to insure a decent retirement, like Education, Experience, Dedication, and Seniority failed, I switched party affiliations. If my father was alive I think he would not recognize the Republican party as the party he knew.

At the end of the second world war he was serving in Okinawa and his worst nightmares, after the war, were of Japanese soldiers coming on to the Island, after the surrender, and killing their own civilians. He told me when citizens are murdered by their own country it is time for the citizens to take them down.

I am the same, in part... because of them, but mostly because I ended up seeing the same they always saw

Yes. We had some diferent views in the past, but never something major.  We alwase debated openly, put all the cards on the board and check all the options. We was never loyal to one certain party.

The left are a bunch of uncultured mostly ignorant people who have no respect to quality and standard of living so much so that they are flooding everywhere with third world country savages and bestially ignorant people. We do, but I've mostly been a bit more in depth, although I've taken more of a back step, seeing the need to get myself squared away first before I go start trying to push ideas for how to keep society a well oiled machine

We never did. He was always a bleeding heart liberal. He voted Democrat all the way through the 2020 election (even though he died in 2016) by today's standards he would be called a Nazi by Democrats though.
