What happen to people that were very sensitve (snowflakes) in the past?

Even in the old times when adults and kids were treated harsher, I'm sure there was always someone very sensitive out there that would easily get traumatized if you spoke to them louder.

Supposedly someone that was a snowflake wouldn't have been able to survive the harsher real world in the 50's or 70's. What do you think happened if someone in the past (even as a kid) if they had a very sensitive personality and really was a snowflake?

the 70s was a great time but there was not a lot of coddling going on. Kids were bullied and not just some sissy crap somebody writes about you in Facebook. Some kid would want your lunch money and if you did not give it up you got a good beating.
