I think it’s the opposite. Why take up a window seat only to close the shade so no one can see outside? The only time to lower a shade in an airplane is when the sun glare is blinding you or a neighbor and even that usually only lasts a moment before the pilot turns the plane a few degrees.
Those are beautiful pictures by the way! đź’•
Exactly. The last airline I flew, Turkish Airlines, I made a comment, "Why does the plane even have windows, if they make you close them?"
THEIR excuse, is so people can sleep. I even went as far as to undim the tint once. Another time my mom scolded me for it, "I was like, Jesus you won't even let me look at the Alps?" I looked at them.
Thanks
I like to look out the window and enjoy the views.
I'm entitled to entertaining myself with window views and the sunlight I rely on to do some tasks during the flight.
And, yes, the Flight Attendants agreed with me when the issue was brought up by a meddling passenger.
Why would anyone have them shut to a sight like that? That's the real question. You be the only sane one
That's exactly what I was wondering. You don't see geography like that everyday
If someone wants to control the window then they can buy a window seat.

Your seat, your window. It's ok to open the shades, just not the window
Oh, I've been on planes where they made you close it
Go ahead an open your window. That decompression bullshit is fake news and bad science.
I cannot stand people who are like "lower your shade jerk"
Go buy a private class ticket asshole
Unless the sun is beaming through the window then no.
Your window. Your shade. Do with it as you wish. Fu*k everyone else on the plane.
no. It’s not a safety issue.
if you are told to keep them down and u kept it up… that’s an issue… other than that… I don’t see a problem.
So other passengers where trying to sleep during the day?
Seems like it, yes
Well they were just bloody asking for it then. If there was scenery out the window like the window like the pics I would be looking at it. If I fly anywhere there are hours of flat red earth. After 5 minutes the red center is boring and my patriotism moves onto to whatever movie is showing.
No, but you were rude if every other shade was down.
Dude! Is it everyday that you see geography like that?
@KostasKouvalis I travel a lot in planes. When everyone has their shade down. If we're passing over an interesting geographic area, I open the shade, observe the view, maybe take a few pictures, and close it. I don't keep it open the entire flight.
I do that too, but in this case, I'd have to keep opening it every few seconds so it made more sense to keep it open
You paid for your seat only and there's no social protocol for that.
I'll take that as a NO
May as well call that the Gulf Of Delusional Stupidity and war crimes these days.
Well, did it bother the other passengers?
I don't care. You don't see geography like that everyday. You just don't.
Long time Mr. A.!!
Hope you are doing well.
@midnightmoon05: I'm OK, hope you and hubby are doing well!
We are doing great! Planning out China summer trip, with kids.
Kids growing up…. By next year they won’t want to join us.
Daughter 18 going for Speeach therapist
Son 16 going for engineering and wants to do real estate business with me.
@midnightmoon05: That’s great. I need to go to China and find myself a nice Chinese lady. I’d like to go to Yunnan this time.
Perhaps not an a**hole...
It’s ok
