Like how to improve humanity had been based around religion for a long time, particularly Christianity and how to live like Christ. Wars were even fought over that. But not anymore. Instead, we debate political concepts today, such as what you see on GAG. Heck, the Vietnam war was a war between political beliefs, not religious ones. But the debate over how to improve humanity continues. It is just done politically instead of religiously. What do you think?

No, politics and religion have always existed side by side from the dawn of humanity. If you think Jewish temples, the Catholic Church, or Egyptian Priests were not political players, you are dumb as a bag of rocks. If you think religions are not trying to do the same thing as politicians, consolidate power and control the masses, you aren't paying attention. It's just that politics tend to operate within borders and unite people within a tangible nation while religion has a bigger plan that ignores borders and tries to unite people with an intangible ideology that can cross borders.

Politics and religion are both focused on wealth and power. And because of that, they both tend to attract the worst shitbags humanity creates.

The best way to improve humanity is through science and education.

Being scientifically literate makes one be able to think properly and to detect bullship spewed by religious leaders and politicians.

Meanwhile, science will help provide technology to make things better for all of us...

Politics and religion just operate in different lanes , one shapes systems, the other shapes conscience.

Both can inspire change, and both can create division.

Improving humanity probably depends less on the label and more on how responsibly power is used.

Religion was the means of controlling the masses in a time where societies were not established and a unified understanding of law and order did not exist. Humans were just humans, you could kill whoever demanded power and take all their stuff to be the new powerful human. Religion was created as a way to say “Yes, you can do this, but you will be punished horribly if you do.” As societies grew and effective lines of power became established as well as official nations, borders, and subsequently laws, politics became equal to religion and the two blended together well for hundreds of years (i. e. the dark ages). After the dark ages and the age of enlightenment, politics grew to be more powerful over an increasingly secular community, hence why it is now the more effective means of controlling a mass population than the vague threat of eternal damnation by going against whatever god ruled the region. Generally speaking, yes. Politics is just the implementation of a person's religion. To say that politics and faith are separate, frankly, just means that someone can't substantiate their political beliefs.

The vast majority of political debates are actually religious debates, or if you'd rather, world view debates.

Why do you think Charlie Kirk was assassinated? He was a Christian with a lot of influence who was bringing an information war against Islam. He was using his platform to promote Christian apologists and to train his organization to carry out spiritual warfare against Islam.
