Well yes and no. Yes It will probably lead to prices going down some. That is good for the Americans that don't have to pay taxes or low income. However, Companies are going to raise hell until they are refunded the money , but who will pay the companies their money? Well the American Taxpayer. The money taken in is gone with Tariffs is gone. So , the government will get the printing presses cranking out $100 bills and that means more national debt and Americans have to pay on the National Debt. This will create more Debt, increase inflation and make affordability worse.

So the problemo here is someone gotta pay the debt and interest and roll over those bonds. So they will simply print more money to cover any shortfall, prices go up as this is the definition of inflation and gold goes up.

It be nice if the govt held gold for every citizen, but nope.. they don't they keep it for themselves and if ever came to it, the'd confiscate the rest like they did in 1930's.

So you either pay the tax on imports, which we will now with 10-15+% flat, or pay it by inflation, or taxation, etc..

There is no win for the people in this, as per usual with Scum_p. Let me maga-splain this for the dummies in the back:

* Walmart was importing items for $1 each, including all previous taxes & tariffs
* Consumer was paying $2 for that item
* Additional tariff goes into effect for 10% more, item now costs $1.10 each
* Walmart passes on the cost of tariff x 3 because they can blame it on the "government", and now sells the item for $2.30
* Consumer paid not only the tariff, but additional 20% profit to Walmart's grift
* Tariffs get struck down. Corporations say "Hey, if it was illegal, WE want our money back"
* Scump says "Ok, my bad" and gives CORPORATIONS the money that consumers already paid them for from tax dollars consumers have given the government.
**** KEY POINT...
* Double grift, and consumer price does NOT return to original $2, because why would it? You're already used to paying $2.30

Then he'll find a different way to do the same thing, and you'll get grifted yet again, and that item will go to $2.50 or more.

As long as the present Administration is in power the USA loses. They will continue to push for totalitarian control and hyper nationalism ( in the form of Christian Nationalism). Trump and his sycophants will continue to damage alliances with long time allies thus isolating the USA even more. Ex Allies ( EU, Australia, Canada, Mexico and so on will trade within themselves and avoid trade with an unreliable USA. USA industry and economy will continue to suffer. The only way to ensure prosperity for the USA is to turn away from this drive towards fascism and rejoin the world and the rules based order.

He's already said that businesses will have to take the government to court to get the tariff money back. Yet another cost that will be passed on to the American consumer. Think of how many changes he has made to his tariff policy in the past year. Why would any country want to deal with that much unpredictability? His 15% global tariff expires in 150 days and needs congressional approval to be extended. Every current trade negotiation in progress has to be put on pause for five months to wait until a concrete tariff policy is implemented. Ultimately, Americans are going to continue bearing the brunt of Trump's hissy fits.

The Supreme Court's ruling does not eliminate tariffs.

Tariffs on many goods from many countries have been in place for years, before Trump used an Emergency Act to expand them. The SCOTUS ruling does not affect those tariffs.

And now, Trump, with legal advice, is using two other laws that legally allow him to raise tariffs, he initially says 10% and then, later, 15%. These laws require more work and more time, but they will likely go into effect within a year.

Bottom line... I wouldn't expect to see any huge price changes in anything. Once companies set a price on goods, they rarely drop the price.

The tariffs have been proclaimed illegal for half a year or more. It has not changed anything.

The Supreme Court ordered Trump to stop starving people and all he did was send in an appeal ans ignore the order.

Unless they order an arrest I doubt he will actually care.

Citizens of the United States aren't going to be paying any tariffs back to foreign countries. The Trump administration will just use a different statute (or multiple different statutes), and "credit" other countries at the start, to avoid refunds.
